External Relations Officer at Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Job Description:

Reporting to the SIAM Director of Development and Corporate Relations, the External Relations Officer will be responsible for identifying, developing, and managing a portfolio of external stakeholders, including businesses, government agencies, non-profit entities, and foundations to identify and secure sponsors for SIAM conferences and other activities, as well as identify opportunities for partnership with external organizations.

Responsibilities

* Maintain a portfolio of corporate prospects and partners and serve as a primary point of contact.

* Oversee and manage sponsorships to support SIAM conferences and other SIAM programs.

* Secure exhibitors at SIAM conferences.

* Serve as primary solicitor for SIAM Development's corporate relations program.

* Conduct corporate prospect research, cultivation, program reporting and analysis, and stewardship.

* Perform other duties as assigned by manager

Partner identification and outreach:

- Identify and evaluate potential sponsors, donors, and collaborators that align with SIAM's mission and objectives and its strategic direction.

- Proactively reach out to key organizations, industry leaders, and potential collaborators to explore and seek out opportunities.

- Build and maintain a robust pipeline of qualified prospects.

Relationship management:

- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with sponsors and partners, serving as the primary point of contact.

- Proactively communicate and engage prospects and sponsors to provide excellent relationship building, stewardship, and corporate relations.

Acquisition and fulfilment:

- Develop and execute a comprehensive corporate sponsorship and philanthropy strategy.

- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless execution of sponsorship agreements, including delivering on agreed-upon benefits, coordinating sponsor activations, and providing regular reporting on sponsorship deliverables.

- Develop compelling sponsorship proposals and presentations tailored to the needs and objectives of potential sponsors. Effectively communicate the value proposition and benefits of sponsoring SIAM's events and activities.

- Lead discussions with prospective sponsors, focusing on securing mutually beneficial partnerships.

- Develop and manage sponsorship contracts, ensuring compliance and alignment with company policies.

Cross-functional collaboration:

- Collaborate with internal teams, including Conferences, Marketing and Communications, Programs, and the Office of the CEO to ensure successful implementation and integration of partnerships.

- Provide guidance and support to volunteer leaders and other stakeholders to maximize partnership opportunities.

Data management and reporting

- As a member of the Development & Corporate Relations team, maintain accuracy and confidentiality of CRM.

- Independently maintain data integrity, oversee gift acknowledgement for all corporate sponsorships.

- Create new records as needed and enter updates to records to accurately reflect changes in corporate contact information and current activity on an ongoing basis.


Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree required.

- 2-4 years of frontline experience in Corporate Relations or related field within a Development and/or Corporate Relations team.

- Strong interpersonal and networking skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and presentation abilities.

- Strategic mindset and the ability to develop and execute corporate relations strategies.

- Exceptional organizational and project management skills.

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

- Familiarity with Blackbaud Raiser's Edge software a plus but not required.

- Understanding of government regulations concerning philanthropic giving and corporate sponsorship.

- Strong track record of meeting or exceeding metrics as assigned by team leadership.
