Job Description:

The Libraries at the University of Northern Colorado (UNC) seeks a creative, collaborative, inclusive, and enthusiastic individual for the position of Teaching & Learning Librarian and Lecturer of University Libraries, position number F99459. This is a 9-month, contract renewable position that reports to the Head of Teaching & Learning.

Teaching & Learning Librarians are part of a highly collaborative department, committed to facilitating dynamic, learner-centered experiences for all students. As a member of the Teaching & Learning department, the lecturer will develop and deliver course-embedded information literacy instruction sessions using innovative, active-learning techniques. The lecturer will design, maintain, and assess online learning objects to engage students at the point of need. In addition, the lecturer will provide one-on-one research consultations for graduate and undergraduate students and faculty. The librarian will complete assessment projects to support the continuous improvement of teaching and learning and to demonstrate the Libraries' impact on student learning to stakeholders.

The Teaching & Learning department works closely with faculty and staff across campus to support UNC's Student First mission. The lecturer will demonstrate enthusiasm for working with students from a variety of backgrounds and take an active role in supporting outreach activities and programming to cultivate campus and community partnerships. The University of Northern Colorado serves approximately 10,000 students, many of whom are often underrepresented at research universities. More than one-third of UNC undergraduates are first-generation college students, and more than one-quarter qualify for federal need-based financial aid. Of all UNC students, more than one-quarter identify as students of color.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Earned master's degree from an ALA-accredited library school or program by start date.
  • Experience teaching in libraries or other settings.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of techniques for evaluating/assessing student learning.
  • Experience using active, collaborative, or other innovative techniques to teach information literacy.
