*Please be sure to provide a cover letter with your resume* Reporting to the Senior Director of Development, the Grants Manager is a mission-driven professional with development experience to help drive our fundraising activities with corporations, foundations, government agencies and other philanthropic institutions. As the lead writer on proposals and reports to major donors, the Grants Manager will play an essential role in the organization's ability to generate general operating, capital, and programmatic support. This individual will serve as a positive ambassador with funders and other community partners. As an integral position within the Development Department, this individual will partner with internal stakeholder on the planning and development of proposals, reports and all associated stewardship activities. A hybrid position, the Grants Manager would be required to visit program sites to keep up-to-date on program activities, build relationships with program staff, and conduct site visits with funders. Major Responsibilities and Key Tasks Grant Writing
  • Collaborate with program and development staff to create compelling grant proposals and funding requests, taking lead on larger grant opportunities.
  • Create and optimize the grant writing, administration and management processes in partnership with the SDD and cross-functional stakeholders. Processes include working with organizational teams to create workflows, and a matrix of responsibilities that support the whole grant cycle.
  • Write and assemble most or all sections of each grant proposal, with key input from program directors and other staff, and delegate writing tasks to the Grant Writing Specialist, as appropriate.
  • Coordinate with relevant staff in order to solicit timely and appropriate input/review of grant proposals prior to submission deadlines.
  • Review guidelines for all foundation proposals and reports to make sure all submissions are accurately formatted and include all required information, including budgets and supplemental materials.
Grants Management
  • In partnership with the SDD and Grant Writing Specialist, manage the grant proposal calendar. Maintain current pipeline to reflect all grant activity.
  • Track donor reporting needs, deadlines, and action items.
  • Complete impact reports to our major foundation and corporate donors by working with the Programs and Impact team to track outcomes and collect impact stories, and working with Fiscal Services for financial reporting requirements.
  • Manage donor cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategy for grants. Track current grant cycles and renewal processes and ensure stewardship to support continued funding.
  • Prepare senior leadership and CEO as required for donor visits, meetings, and check-in meetings with foundations and corporations, public and private.
  • Prepare reports as needed for CEO, Development Committee and Board of Directors.
Prospect Research
  • Conduct targeted research to identify new institutional funders and help grow the existing portfolio of funders to ensure that Carole Robertson Center maintains a diverse portfolio of funders.
Data Integrity
  • Partner with the Associate Director of Development and Development Specialist, to manage the Raiser's Edge NXT development database and work to ensure that data is up-to-date and accurate.
  • Maintain records of all corporate/foundation interactions (e.g., grant agreements, report requirements or documentation of calls and meetings).
  • Design and manage ongoing development of the system to meet the needs of the development department, with a particular focus on grant information and grant funders
  • Develop and implement training on grant management procedures in Raiser's Edge NXT and other necessary training for new development staff.
Other
  • Supervise and guide the work of the Grant Writing Specialist.
  • Support general fundraising activities, as needed, including support of the Center's annual celebrations and other major activities of the department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Bachelor's degree, Master's preferred
  • At least five years of grant writing and development experience in nonprofit organization
  • At least two years of supervision experience
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skill
  • Experience with budgeting and budget development; basic financial management skills
  • Team player with exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Self-starter, motivated, and able to take initiative in all situations; ability to function effectively in a fast- paced, entrepreneurial and inclusive environment
  • Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously with close attention to detail and prioritization to meet deadlines
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Advanced computer skills; database and/or Raiser's Edge NXT CRM experience strongly desired
  • Ability to work well independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team; work well with diverse styles and personalities
  • Strong commitment to supporting young children, youth, and to advancing social justice
