Controls Engineer (3rd Shift)


Location: Wentzville, MO


Employment Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire


Work Schedule: 3rd Shift (10 PM - 7 AM)


Role Summary: As a Controls Engineer on our Engineering team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our plant equipment. Your responsibilities will include controls engineering, process improvement, and overall operational support.


Key Responsibilities:

• Develop implementation strategies for modifications to plant layout using AutoCAD.


• Modify programming for PLCs (typically Allen Bradley), HMIs, robots, vision inspection cameras, electric torque tools, and plant automation.


• Troubleshoot problems related to processes and hardware.


• Supervise all aspects of electrical control systems for plant equipment.


• Install and provide technical support for PLC-based hardware and software.


• Design and specify work fixtures as required by production.


• Manage projects involving installation and modifications of tools and equipment by contractors and internal Maintenance team.


• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including OHSA, CSA, ESA, PHSR, WSIB, Human Rights, Employment Standards, and Labor Relations.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.


• 3 years of experience in a Controls Engineering position within the Manufacturing and/or Automotive Industry.


• Understanding of JIT (just-in-time) manufacturing principles.


• Strong knowledge of industrial automation and safety requirements.


• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing practices.


• Proficiency in ladder logic, preferably with Allen-Bradley Systems (PLC5, SLC, and ControLogix 5000-5580).


• Skills in HMI design, preferably using FactoryTalk View, Ignition, and WonderWare. Familiarity with LabVIEW is a plus.
