Blue Cross of Idaho is seeking an IT Financial Analyst intern to join our Information Technology team during Summer 2024. The Intern will team up with the Executive Assistant, HR, and Finance/Budget partners, and reports directly to the CIO. This opportunity will focus on financial analysis project(s) within IT, help foster understanding of IT finance within the insurance industry, aid relationship building, and further develop documentation and reporting skills.
This paid internship will be located at the Meridian Idaho main corporate campus. Anticipated duration: June-August 2024, with possible opportunity for internship extension.
What we are looking for in an intern:
Currently enrolled in a college or university, preferably a senior or grad-school student, pursuing Finance major
Advanced skill level in Microsoft Suite, specifically Excel and PowerPoint
Willingness to learn and understand financial analysis and data reporting within Information Technology enterprise environment
Detail oriented
Self directed, with ability to clarify and communicate with leadership and the team. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Accountable to themselves and open to feedback
Your day-to-day and learning opportunities include:
Leveraging in-depth knowledge of Excel functions and pivot tables; will create financial models using Excel and PowerPoint
Creation of impactful PowerPoint presentations:
Ability to use Excel data and create charts and dashboards
Create financial burn down models
Create financial forecast models
Participate in weekly meeting active discussions regarding work completed, work planned, work in progress
Cross-collaboration to partner with other departments and teams:
Work with Finance and HR teams
Capture data related to consultant/contractor projects
