We are looking for a Senior Data Architect within the Data and Analytics Center of Excellence. This role will work cross-functionally to build data products that enable analytics and data science teams across the company to create new insights. A key focus area will be leading the development of data models that enable software and product teams to optimize our customer experience. The role will embed themselves in all aspects of data design and modeling, working backwards from analytics needs to guide software engineers and data analysts such that the best decisions are being made at every turn.

Candidates should have a broad experience with multiple data management disciplines and the ability to step into different roles depending on the phase, scope and technologies of project. The role will work with software engineers, cloud engineers, solution architects, application developers, data analysts, data scientists, and others to craft and implement data products that drive insights for the entire company. The role needs to be 'hands-on', validating and testing the data to ensure that it is able to deliver the insights we expect. Responsibilities


  • Work with Product and Engineering teams to translate analytics requests into data product requirements, and then work with software engineering and analytics teams to deliver those products.

  • Plan, structure, and oversee data design review sessions. Take accountability for ensuring all key design and compliance decisions are reviewed and approved before implementation.

  • Analyze current state of data architecture of various systems across the enterprise - software components, technologies, data models and business processes; identify opportunities to drive better or faster insights, more reliability, and lower costs.

  • Propose and enforce data management best practices, data standards, data management policies and rules across different functions of the company

  • Generate data management artifacts, like data models diagrams, ETL/ELT source-to-target mapping, data dictionaries, data flow diagrams, data quality definitions and tests, and data contracts.

  • Partner with Legal, Information Security and HR to ensure compliance and security of data including developing solutions around masking, encrypting, and/or pseudonymizing.

  • Lead vendors evaluation and recommend new and emerging technologies in the areas of data engineering, data quality, and analytics.

Qualifications


  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent technical domain (MS preferred).

  • Candidate should have a minimum of 10+ years of overall enterprise technology, data, and analytics experience, with a track record of delivering data products that drive substantial business insights and direct value.

  • Extremely strong SQL skills.

  • Direct experience designing production level data architectures, pipelines, and products within a cross functional Data Mesh operating model.

  • Experience with data modeling (conceptual, logical, physical) and understanding of ETL/ELT processes design and infrastructure administration.

  • Proficient with modern data platforms such as AWS, Snowflake, dbt, and Collibra, or similar technologies.

  • Proven experience of cross functional leadership in sophisticated organizations with strong emphasis on influencing and teamwork.

  • The ideal candidate has experience with microservices, event based architecture, data streaming (Apache Kafka, AWS Kinesis), IoT telemetry data, mobile application data collection and analytics

  • Strong in gaining knowledge of new technologies across data management disciplines and conduct proof of concepts of well-established and innovative enterprise software tools.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, accountability, written and verbal communication skills, time management are key competencies to this position.

  • Ability to analyze sophisticated data and ability to communicate data management concepts to technical and non-technical staff, to work independently with minimal direction including the organization and prioritization of tasks to meet deadlines and department goals.
