Job Description:

UC Health is hiring a Full-time Team Leader for our Food and Nutrition Services department for the day shift at Daniel Drake Center.

The Team Leader will oversee specific activities of Food Service Associates relative to patient meal service, cafeteria, catering and sanitation.

  • Functions as charge person in absence of supervisor assisting in the assembly, service, delivery and sanitation of food going to all hospital patients, visitors and associates. Provides input to supervisor on associate performance. Covers schedules and helps to maintain overtime and attendance records

  • Performs quality control functions relative to area of responsibility. Checks and records food and equipment temperatures. Runs tray accuracy reports. Collects customer comments, tasting food for acceptability. Insures garnishes are always in use. Arranges steam tables and cold counters to best display. Helps in the assembly of trays and orders. Checks equipment to insure it is operating and at appropriate temperature. Reports any problems to supervisor.

  • Checks and rearranges daily work assignments and break periods to insure work is completed according to schedule and standards. Reports any issues to supervisor for follow-up.

  • Provides on-the-job training and orientation to assignees task for all new associates. Demonstrates ability to communicate and gain cooperation from many different personnel under sometimes-conflicting circumstances.

  • Checks completed work for accuracy when assembling trays on tray-line and when filling customer orders. Ensures that sanitation and safety practices appropriate for assigned areas are adhered to at all times and oversees daily and weekly cleaning schedules. Checks work area at start of shift or end of shift to ensure all equipment, supplies, storage, work and offices areas have been left in a sanitary secured fashion per established guidelines. Refers item of concern to supervisor for follow-up as appropriate.

  • Attends meeting as required to enhance job knowledge, job skills and communications within the operations

  • Follows Board of Health, State and JCAHO regulations/HACCP procedures regarding food preparation technique, holding and storage of food and sanitation.

  • Performs other related duties as directed or assigned. Performs relief duties for any area Food Service Associate, Clinical Nutrition Care Clerk, Cashier or assigned tasks not requiring certification or credentials
