Position Summary: Maintenance Technician Lead is responsible for coordinating and supervising the work of Technicians and Machine Operators in the general and preventative maintenance, repairs, and coordination of processing equipment. Responsible for maintaining electrical, pneumatics, mechanical, and related systems Packaging, Processing equipment.

  • Ensure the plant is set up, and operators have the automated packing equipment is running and well-maintained equipment in a 24/7 production environment

  • Partner with Maintenance Inventory team to ensure adequate part inventory levels and monitor usage.

  • Develop positive partnerships with other operational functions (i.e. production or human resources) and suppliers to ensure human capital, equipment, production, and sanitation processes are used in the most effective/efficient manner to meet or exceed manufacturing targets.

  • Promote a neat and clean maintenance area to ensure a safe working environment.

  • Works proactively to prevent accidents and injuries, by training and conducting on-going safety meetings. Promotes safe work environment

  • Conduct or arrange for worker training in safety, repair and maintenance techniques, operational procedures and equipment use.

  • Utilize CMMS software to support Corrective, Emergency and Preventative maintenance programs or activities.

  • Work closely with Maintenance Operations Supervisor to implement maintenance strategy for equipment to increase Output & MTBF and reduce MTTR.

  • Inspect and monitor work areas and equipment daily.

  • Validate preventative maintenances and works performed visually, and then compile information into CMMS.

  • PLC knowledge uploading, downloading programs and be able to clear PLC faults, setting up new and spare outputs/inputs on PLC programs.

  • Recommend procedures for facility or production modification.

  • Perform skilled repair and maintenance operations, using hand and power tools, PLC Software, multi meters

  • Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders to construct templates and lay out reference points for workers.

  • Recommend and/or manage continuous improvement in a way that engages employees and functional partners in systematic, effective and collaborative manner.

  • Drive Food Safety and GMP compliance to ensure a successful food safety culture. Ensures food safety protocols without faill Always perform tasks in a manner that protects and promotes food safety.

  • Drive Food Safety with employees to ensure compliance with all Company policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP), Hazard Communication, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) as outlined in the Code of Federal

Education & Experience / Skills & Abilities: 


  • High School Graduate or GED

  • Industrial Maintenance/ PLC programming certificate.

  • Must be bilingual (English/Spanish required)

  • 5 years of relevant experience in maintenance Supervision experience preferred.

  • Proactively assist team members, manager and employees as needed.

  • Ability to motivate others to meet demands established by the schedule.

  • Maintain composure under difficult circumstances and effectively deal with employees.

  • Available to work a flexible schedule including, nights, weekends and overtime as required.

  • Communicate special instructions or possible issues to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.

  • Teambuilding and ensuring teamwork.

  • Willing and capable to work long hours as necessary.

  • Self-starter, ability to work independently as well as with team members and management.

  • Extensive knowledge in a variety of mechanical/electrical systems

  • Previous supervisory experience highly preferred

  • Can effectively and efficiently handle both administrative and mechanical responsibilities Always makes safety a priority

  • Solid understanding of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook).

  • Ammonia refrigeration system and, Air compressors is a plus.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands:


  • Ability to perform other functions such as standing, walking, sitting, twisting, and carrying objects up to 50lbs.

  • Ability to work in cold and wet conditions with the smell of chlorine (inside plant 34 degrees and below)

  • Working exposed to contaminants (such as chemicals, gases, dust and odors)

  • Must be flexible with schedule and be available to work PM shift if needed, weekends and overtime as required.

  • 60% office work, 40% working in the plant working with maintenance team and vendors.
