Role description:

Arcadis, a global design and engineering consulting firm, is seeking a communications intern to join our innovative, collaborative team of skilled communications professionals in Atlanta. Our team is actively engaged with local, regional, and state agency clients to support a variety of transportation projects, and many of these projects require communications, marketing, and/or public relations expertise.

The ideal candidate will have strengths in verbal and written communications as well as time management and critical thinking skills. Our paid communications internship provides an opportunity for undergraduate university students - juniors or seniors only - to gain practical experience under the guidance of seasoned professionals with a vast array of experience in both public- and private-sector organizations.

The internship will start in June or May 2023. The communications team prefers a commitment of 20 to 40 hours of work per week, although flexibility is available to balance any classroom demands. Most of the work can be performed virtually from home, although in-office work will be required from time to time.

Role accountabilities:


  • Assist the communications team with coordinating and conducting stakeholder and public engagement meetings, either virtual or in-person
  • Help draft press releases, develop PowerPoint slide decks, write social media posts, and generate other pieces of collateral
  • Organize document repositories and ensure timely delivery of project deliverables
  • Participate in and contribute to internal team meetings
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications


  • Enrolled in an undergraduate university program in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, or related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with or interest in the transportation industry
  • Expertise in social media platforms/analytics
  • Expertise in graphic design (print and/or digital)
