The primary role of the Retail Team Leader is the management and development of the Territory Sales Managers (TSM's).
The Team Leader is responsible for establishing priorities and executing and evaluating performance. The expectation of the Team Leader is to provide continual coaching to direct, engage and motivate the Associate(s) to achieve the team's key performance indicators (KPI's) while actively developing them for their best next role within Mars.
This position is accountable to influence $MM in GSV (varies by channel) and effectively manage all region sales activities. The Team Leader is instrumental in collaborating across the Sales functions and within the customer to identify and resolve operational issues while supporting and influencing the development of future channel strategies. This position is responsible for identifying and developing the capabilities, tools and processes needed to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the TSM.
The Team Leader must have proven people leadership, analytical capabilities, and coaching skills to build and develop an effective and highly motivated field sales team. The incumbent must be able to translate company strategies into actionable plans for the region.

What will be your key responsibilities?


  • Recruit, onboard, develop and coach performance of Territory Sales Managers (TSM's) to drive quality sales volume enabling the team to achieve their key performance indicators (KPI's).

  • Create annual and cycle specific priorities to execute national, regional and account specific programs and to inspire the successful achievement of company strategies and priorities via in market execution.

  • Spend minimum 60% of time in field to ensure accountability and manage individual performance while coaching and developing skills and capabilities to enhance performance and achieve business results.

  • Effectively execute Great Line Management responsibilities inclusive of ongoing performance management and associate development.

  • Build and maintain a comprehensive team engagement action plan to foster a high performing team environment.

  • Embed company vision and purpose by championing change management principles to effectively lead and inspire team.

  • Cultivate collaborative relationships and penetrate higher levels of management (Regional, Market, District, and/or General Managers) to sell and influence category driving programs and initiatives.

  • Perform quarterly retail audits to assess TSM effectiveness and to identify coaching opportunities. Take appropriate follow up action as required.

  • Partner with Sales and cross-functional Associates to identify and prioritize systems, tools and processes needed to deliver short term deliverables and long-term business strategies.

  • Role model the ability to analyze sales data and leverage insights, acting as a resource to assist TSM's in fact-based selling and solutions-oriented behaviors.

  • In some channels, navigate complex challenges to influence and manage a seasonal surge executional budget across region in collaboration with 3rd party surge team to deliver millions of dollars in seasonal sell thru.

  • Consistently demonstrate and hold team accountable for exhibiting the Mars Five Principles.

  • Perform special projects as assigned by leadership.
