Job Responsibilities

  • Transformative Leadership: The Quality Supervisor Engineering role aims to transform the Columbia Missouri US Plant into a highly customer-oriented organization, delivering premium quality and service to exceed customer expectations.
  • Team Leadership: Lead a team of Quality Auditors and Inspectors supporting Columbia Manufacturing operations, including final inspections, quality walls, metrology, incoming inspection, quarantine area management, credit notes, scrap management, customer returns, certification orders, and complaint resolution.
  • Competency Assurance: Ensure quality auditors and inspectors possess the necessary competencies to support Columbia Manufacturing operations effectively.
  • Quality Program Management: Lead relevant quality programs and methods such as 8D, Lean Six Sigma, Quality Fundamentals, Digital Quality, and customer interaction to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Issue Management: Directly manage critical vendor issues escalated by the plant, customers, or line of business. Utilize problem-solving tools such as 8D, Kaizen, and Six Sigma to understand root causes, implement corrective and preventive actions, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Process Improvement: Lead continuous process improvement efforts impacting customer returns, scrap, and first-time throughput.
  • Customer Interface: Interface with external customers to understand their expectations and concerns.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Technical Antennas, Quality Engineers, manufacturing personnel, and external corporate engineering, quality, and supplier quality resources.

  • Product and Supplier Support: Support new product introductions and supplier development activities related to Columbia components.

  • Travel Requirement: Manage incoming inspection at a 3PL located outside the Columbia MO plant, requiring travel 1-2 times per month.


  • Educational Background: Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Business; a master's degree is preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum of 2-years in the manufacturing industry in roles such as Operations Supervisor or Quality Engineering.

Technical Skills:


  • Proficiency in quality assessment of incoming components and manufactured products, including software testing during the process and as finished goods.

  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications (CTQs/CTPs, GD&T, blueprints)

  • Knowledge of measurement tools and the ability to develop a PCP based on customer requests.

  • Proficiency in executing transactions for material receiving inspection, in-process inspection, and finished goods data recording and queries.

  • Ability to deploy and execute SPC, design/verify MSA (GR&R), calibration, and maintenance of measurement tools and testers.

  • Establishing rules and responsibilities for the reception, verification, and storage of parts/materials.

  • Quality Strategy: Ability to anticipate changes and implement medium and long-term action plans to increase customer satisfaction while improving business growth and efficiency.

  • Quality Management Systems: Develop, implement, maintain, and improve Quality Management Systems that meet all regulatory, certification, and customer requirements, while remaining lean and effective.

  • Continuous Improvement: Utilize continuous improvement tools and methods such as 8D, Six Sigma, and Kaizen to enhance products, services, or processes delivering lasting value.

  • Team Building: Ability to build a strong plant quality team and coach them to grow their competencies, aligning with the mission of customer-centric transformation.
