The Indiana Geological and Water Survey (IGWS), a research institute of Indiana University (IU), seeks applications for a Visitor Services Assistant that will facilitate the front-line visitor experience at the IGWS Learning Lab.
Job Summary
Responsible for daily visitor services at the IGWS Learning Lab, an experiential learning center in the heart of the IU Bloomington campus.
Engages with the public in daily, frontline operations to ensure a safe, educational, and memorable experience.
Greets, orients, and answers questions from walk-in visitors, conducts tours, and assists with scheduled outreach events.
Maintains facility security by opening and closing the Learning Lab each day.
Processes credit card sales, pack orders, and maintain inventory for the IGWS store.
Maintains a professional demeanor with both staff and visitors alike.
Qualifications
EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE
Required
High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED) and 2 years of experience working in a customer service area or office environment
SKILLS
Preferred
Excellent customer service skills and ability to work with groups of all ages and backgrounds
Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Teams, Excel, and Outlook. Intermediate office and bookkeeping skills
Knowledge of geology or natural sciences
