Overview
This faculty member will be an integral part of the research in the department. This will include:
Serving as PhD-level quantitative lead on study teams in collaboration with DFM investigators on research projects, including contributing to and leading efforts in grant development and writing, study design, analysis, and publication of results
Developing or expanding one’s own area(s) of methodological or content area expertise, and obtaining local or national funding for their research
Mentoring master-level biostatistician team members, as well as faculty, residents, and students
Contributing to development of resources for skill-building within DFM faculty and Research Associate groups
Presenting research findings at scientific conferences
Developing management and interpersonal skills to lead and sustain diverse academic teams
While teaching is not a requirement, it is encouraged; there are opportunities to teach at OHSU, in the MPH/MS program and in the department
Responsibilities
Doctoral degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, Quantitative Epidemiology (or related field)
Strong record of research and peer-reviewed publication history, commensurate with rank
Outstanding communication skills, including proven ability and joy in communicating complex ideas and concepts (both orally and in writing) to scientific and non-scientific audiences
Demonstrated ability to supervise and mentor
Extensive experience collaborating with other investigators, commensurate with rank
Demonstrated commitment to excellence in research activities
Demonstrated experience with and enthusiasm for collaborative research, particularly with mixed-methods teams
Ability to maintain a safe working and learning environment
Ability to achieve project goals on time and within budget
Expertise with statistical software (e.g., R, Stata, SAS)
Expertise applying data science/analytic methods in one or more dataset types including electronic health records, administrative claims, survey, or qualitative coded data
