The El Camino Community College District is now accepting applications for anticipated part-time faculty positions for the 2024 fall semester to teach ethnic studies courses with emphasis on the following:

Introduction to Ethnic Studies

Faculty job responsibilities include the assessment of learning outcomes to improve teaching and learning in achieving El Camino College's mission of institutional effectiveness, quality educational programs, and vibrant student support services.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

Master's degree in the ethnic studies field 0R

Master's in American Studies/Ethnicity, Latino Studies, La Raza Studies, Central American Studies, Latin American Studies, Cross Cultural Studies, Race and Ethnic Relations, Asian-American Studies, or African-American Studies OR

The equivalent - Candidates not possessing the required qualifications as stated above, must explain in detail how their qualifications are equivalent to those above; OR

Valid California Community college instructor credential in appropriate subject. (per California Education Code 87355 issued prior to July 1, 1990); AND

Sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of college students, and of individuals with disabilities.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Previous college-level teaching experience.

SALARY:

Part-time faculty are compensated on a semester basis according to the number of class hours assigned per semester and on cumulative semesters of instruction for the District. The beginning rate $105.27 - $134.39 (lecture), $79.79 - $101.83 (lab), per hour depending on education and experience.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

This is a part-time position beginning August 2024. Assignments may include dual enrollment and off-site locations. A teaching demonstration and sample syllabus will be required during the interview process. Offer and acceptance of employment is subject to verification of all information provided on the employment application, credential(s), and transcripts. Candidates selected for employment must agree to be fingerprinted, submit Certificate of the Tuberculosis Risk Assessment and/or Examination, provide proof of eligibility for employment in the United States, and present a valid Social Security card upon hire.
