Position Summary

Brief Description of PSU/School/Dept Student Activities and Leadership Programs (SALP) mission is to enrich and integrate student’ leadership and academic experiences in order to educate students to be ethical, socially just, and civically engaged leaders on campus and in their larger communities. SALP does this by advising student government and student media, working with the student-run services, coordinating service-learning, overseeing the Portland State Events Board, and advising nearly 150 student organizations and the student-run funding boards.
Position Summary The Central Operations Coordinator for Student Activities and Leadership Programs has two primary purposes. First to manage the front desk functions for Student Activities and Leadership Program by supervising the four to six student employees and creating a fun, welcoming environment for student leaders who use the facilities and seek services. The second is to coordinate the central administrative functions of the department such as managing keys, inventory, room reservations, and other central services. The Central Operations Coordinator also provides accounting support such as purchasing items online, paying invoices, or reimbursements.
Minimum Qualifications from Classification Two years of general clerical experience. One year of which included typing, word processing, or other experience generating documents; OR
An Associate’s degree in Office Occupations or Office Technology; OR
Graduation from a private school of business with a Certificate in Office Occupations or Office Technology AND one year of general clerical experience.

Note:
College courses in Office Occupations or Office Technology will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Additional Minimum Qualifications for this Position Successful candidate:
  • has excellent written and verbal communication,
  • is organized,
  • able to work as a team in an ever-changing work environment
  • able to pick up and move at least 40 lbs
  • has experience providing customer service in an office environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supervising students.
  • Experience with accounts payable (for example: purchasing, paying invoices, contracts).

Total Compensation Range & Benefits Statement The starting hourly salary rate for this position will be between $17.24/hr and $19.29/hr. The starting salary may be negotiable above this range, however it will be dependent upon the knowledge, experience, skills and abilities of the chosen candidate, the budget of the hiring department, and approval from HR.
