Nemours is seeking a Psychometrist (Neurology) (Full-Time), to join our Nemours Children's Hospital team in Orlando, Florida.

The psychometrist is responsible for coordinating, implementing and administering neuropsychological, psychological assessments to clinical patients, under the age of 21, with a wide range of presenting concerns (e.g. medical, mental health) according to standardization in order to assist neuropsychologists/psychologists in interpretive and treatment decisions. The psychometrist is trained in the standardized test administration and scoring for a wide range of psychological and neuropsychological tests in order to evaluate cognitive, academic and behavioral status. Responsibilities also include obtaining parental consent for assessments, maintaining the assessment materials, including ordering protocols and updated test kits as appropriate, as well as communicating with the assessment companies and providing technical support for online assessment to providers.

Substantial Complexity- Substantially complex and diversified. May require data interpretation as well as application of most effective options. May require analytical skills. The management of multiple priorities is frequently required.

External Contacts- Regular external contacts to research and resolve moderately complex complaints, questions and problems.


  • Follows all aspects of Good Clinical Practices in assessment and follows all standardization procedures throughout the evaluation process.
  • Collecting and managing clinical data
  • Administer and score psychological and neuropsychological tests as defined in the competencies for a Psychometrist. The psychometrist must be trained in standardized administration and scoring of psychological and neuropsychological tests, including establishing an appropriate testing environment and building rapport with the patients.
  • Assists provider in selection of tests to be administered. Trouble shoot difficult testing situations and adapt to changing testing challenges while informing provider.
  • Coordinates preparation, set up and removal/ breaking down of assessment materials.
  • Ensures appropriate cleaning and upkeep of all assessment materials.
  • Score all testing results, including assessments administered by provider during the testing session, and all questionnaires. Once scoring is completed, place data into table and present testing data to clinicians.
  • Observe behavioral observations during the testing.
  • Write progress notes in the medical record to keep hospital personnel informed of testing process.
  • Lead training of new student trainees in test administration and scoring
  • In services new providers/staff on updates or new assessment procedures/processes.
  • Maintaining organization in the testing materials and protocols and inventory of supplies, ordering protocols and updated test kits when needed. Ensure materials are up to date.
  • Coordinates with the assessment publishing companies to troubleshoot scoring software issues, ordering issues or other technical difficulties that may arise.
  • Develops strategies to ensure assessment service is compliant with all updates with testing technology (i.e., iPad)
  • Additional miscellaneous duties and responsibilities, as may be assigned by employee's supervisor.
  • Attends Psychometrists Meetings as assigned; interacts and meets with representatives from testing publishing companies as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in psychology or related field required. Master's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum (1) one year of experience.
  • American Heart Association BLS Certification required.
