Working closely with the team at the Teaching and Scholarship Hub (Faculty Hub), the Technology Consultant, Pedagogy and Scholarship, provides support to faculty in the appropriate use of technology to enhance inclusive teaching goals and faculty scholarship goals. The person in this role not only needs to have a strong understanding of current and emerging technologies but must also be flexible and responsive to the shifting needs of University of Richmond faculty. Relationship building and collaboration is a cornerstone of this role. In addition to working with faculty from all five schools, the Technology Consultant will develop strong relationships with campus partners. Finally, as a member of the Faculty Hub team, the Technology Consultant will share our collaborative, inclusive, and mutually supportive spirit as we work together to advance the strategic priorities of the University of Richmond.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Collaborate effectively with staff and the Director of the Faculty Hub to develop, implement, and assess educational development programs and activities that relate to teaching and scholarship
Conduct confidential, formative, solution-focused consultations with individual faculty on topics related to teaching and scholarship
Support faculty needs around generative AI and other emergent technologies
Expand self-knowledge in technologies as they relate to higher education, including engagement in professional development
Create and maintain digital resources related to Faculty Hub priorities
Contribute to the strategic planning for the Faculty Hub and address new needs and opportunities for faculty development
Additional duties as assigned by the Director of the Faculty Hub
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
Strong interpersonal skills with ability to develop and maintain collegial relationships and to work effectively in a collaborative environment
Understanding of best practices in educational development
Experience in effective instructional support with attention to inclusive practices
Knowledge of current and emerging trends in academic technology
Expertise in widely used hardware, software applications, resources and technologies
Ability to learn new hardware and software independently
Advanced verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present effectively to small and large groups
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
Demonstrated ability to work independently
Preferred (preferred candidates will possess some but not necessarily all of these characteristics):
Experience in developing and delivering effective workshops, tutorials, or training on pedagogy and technology
Experience with one-on-one consulting, coaching, mentoring, or training
Experience in instructional design, course design, or curriculum design
Experience with educational assessment practices
Experience in a teaching and learning center
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Required
Master's Degree
Two years of experience teaching in a higher education environment or equivalent experiences in adult learning or training
Preferred
Terminal degree (Ph.D. or Ed.D. or equivalent)
Combined four years of experience teaching in a higher education environment (or equivalent experiences in adult learning or training) and educational development
Pay Grade 7 (Hiring Range $54,413.00 to $72,093.00 annually)
