Business Data Analyst at GREATER CHICAGO FOOD DEPOSITORY in Chicago, Illinois

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Greater Chicago Food Depository is hiring a Data Analyst on the Procurement team to support our mission to end hunger. The Food Depository distributes food through our network of partner agencies and programs, including pantry sites, mobile distributions, and responses for children, older adults, and veterans. 

The Data Analyst will use data analytic tools to collect data, clean data sets, conduct quantitative analysis, develop new reports, improve existing reports, create dashboards, and visualize data. This role will work collaboratively across the team as well as across departments at the organization with diverse stakeholders, including senior leaders, subject matter experts, and data stewards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Data Analytics and Reporting 

o   Lead the data analytics and data stewardship function for Procurement and Prepared Meals

o    Create reports that ingest data from multiple source systems

o    Maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize Power BI reports related to procurement (purchasing, donations, government commodities), including but not limited to item movement trends, inbounds, distribution, demand planning, inventory aging, budgeting, forecasting, and order tracking

o    Provide thorough analysis and actionable insights that inform strategies, including creating ad-hoc reports as needed

o    Collaborate with stakeholders and other departmental data analysts to advance the Data & Analytics function at the Food Depository

o    Document processes and foster data usage/communication across team members

o    Provide cross-training to help team members develop their technical skills

o    Develop an expert-level knowledge of all internal data systems (Microsoft Dynamics NAV/Ceres, Azure Data Warehouse, Jet reports, Power BI, NetMenu) 

o    Learn the business processes of the Prepared Meals function and how those processes are enabled by technology (specifically, NetMenu, Ceres, Client CRM) 

o    Serve as the Food Depository IT support person for the NetMenu application

o    Manage the creation and distribution of external stakeholder reports (Feeding America, USDA, etc.) 

o    Create efficiencies within work tasks to eliminate or reduce manual processes

Data Stewardship 

o    Ensure data accuracy and drive data clean up initiatives

o    Continued maintenance of item descriptions, item code categories, product group codes, and item lead time calculations

•    Other duties as assigned 

•    Ability to work in office Tuesday through Thursday, with option to work remote Monday and Friday

QUALIFICATIONS:

•    2+ years of data analytics experience

o    Ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy 

o    Microsoft Excel master

o    SQL experience with proficiency required 

o    Experience with a programming language such as Python or R preferred

o    Power BI & Power Query Editor experience preferred 

o    Strong database management skills preferred

o    Experience with Microsoft Dynamics a plus

•    Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical information in a clear and concise manner 

•    Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with a wide array of individuals

•    An ability to juggle both long-term, strategic projects and ad hoc, urgent requests as needed 

•    Experience in problem solving and willingness to seek out continuous process improvement
