JOB SUMMARY:

Clemson University seeks a visionary leader to serve as the Associate Vice President (AVP) for International Programs and Partnerships. This senior role acts as the chief international officer, overseeing strategic development and operational management of Clemson's international engagements, including study abroad programs, international scholars, and services for international students, faculty, staff, and visitors. The AVP serves as the principal liaison and compliance officer for international regulatory bodies, enhancing the university's global outreach and educational impact.

JOB DUTIES:

Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Leadership and Management of International Programs:
    • Oversee daily operations and strategic direction of the Office of Global Engagement.
    • Manage and develop international partnerships and collaborative agreements aligned with the university s mission.
    • Facilitate international endeavors for faculty, staff, and students.
  • Regulatory Leadership and Compliance:
    • Supervise the Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) and Responsible Officer (RO), ensuring compliance with federal immigration laws and Department of State regulations.
    • Interpret, apply, and educate the university community on compliance with relevant laws and policies.
    • Implement centralized and transparent monitoring systems for all international programs and partnerships.
  • Communication and Community Engagement:
    • Articulate and promote the mission, vision, and services of the Office of International Programs and Partnerships.
    • Foster a collaborative environment committed to international programming excellence.
    • Support international students and scholars in their academic and social integration.
  • Partnerships and Global Outreach:
    • Develop and sustain relationships with domestic and international partners, enhancing educational and industrial impacts.
    • Lead initiatives to prepare students and faculty for global economic competitiveness.
    • Collaborate with University Development to support and grow international programming.
  • Advocacy and Policy Development:
    • Advocate for international education within the university, promoting supportive policies.
    • Engage with federal, state, and international bodies to advance the university s interests in international education forums.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Master¿s degree and 5+ years of experience in international education administration, including study and learning abroad, international scholar sponsorships, partnership development, and policy development leadership.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Terminal degree and 5+ years of leadership experience in an academic, student affairs, or faculty affairs role at an R1 institution. Expertise in international laws, regulations, policies, and procedures related to study abroad and international programs.

Develops Department Budgets - Responsible for developing one or more departmental budget(s). Estimated amount of budgetary responsibility in dollar amount must be added.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Terminal degree and 5+ years of leadership experience in an academic, student affairs, or faculty affairs role at an R1 institution. Expertise in international laws, regulations, policies, and procedures related to study abroad and international programs.
