Job Description:

Position Purpose & Scope:
Under the direct supervision of the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Program Officer (CPO) will serve as a critical member of the executive leadership team & executes the key programs and related services of CAI. The incumbent will oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of programs to ensure that programs meet their goals and objectives. Additionally, the CPO will be responsible for managing a team of directors and managers, and ensuring the programs are delivered effectively and efficiently. The incumbent will be strategic thinker with the ability to think outside the box and come up with creative solutions to complex problems. The CPO is responsible for knowing and adhering to all guidelines, regulations and policies developed or set forth by the Board of Directors, the CEO, the California Department of Social Services, the County of Sacramento, and the Federal government.

Typical Duties:

Collaborates with executive leadership to understand and meet the organizations long-term and short-term goals, related to operations Develops a team-based environment to motivate and inspire staff to collaboratively work toward the vision and goals of organization Deploys resources effectively toward the organizational goals Manages and monitors emerging needs of current or potential clients, government agencies, philanthropists, and other similar parties Creates a high performing culture, aligned with CAIs values, mission and vision Oversees the development and management of program budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility and sustainability Works to balance the workload and efforts of the staff to continuously improve their supervision and mentoring skills Identifies and creates leadership, mentoring and professional development opportunities designed to keep the staff focused and motivated Works with the leadership team to develop new initiatives that reflect the organizations mission Develops confidence and trust in peers, colleagues, and external partners Tracks the activities and performance of the work conducted under grants to ensure compliance Recognizes and addresses challenges of projects in a proactive manner, balancing considerations such as the budget, impact on the staff and the requirements of the funding Skillfully incorporates the use of technology to effectively and efficiently execute programs Creates and establishes equity and inclusivity within teams, to ensure a positive high-performance culture Manages multiple contracts, grant requirements and team simultaneously Performs other duties as required

Supervisory Responsibility:

Implements and executes the strategic plan through guidance, coaching, and sound management practices for the department Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff in the department Oversees the daily workflow of the department Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations
