BASIC PURPOSE:
Reviews monthly and year-end financial statements and supporting schedules. Prepares monthly and annual financial statements for the assigned partnerships. Provides support and leadership for team of two to three employees.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


  • Reviews financials (monthly) - Ensures proper accounting procedures are being followed, suggests corrections/adjustments, and verifies accuracy of supporting schedules to financial statements. On average, will review 12-16 partnerships per month depending on other responsibilities.


  • Prepares financial statements and cash/bank recs (monthly) - Prints/enters month end activity from Yardi, reviews and corrects (as required) the accuracy of month-end Yardi account balances to agree to the Trial Balance, prepares/posts journal entries to ensure accuracy of statement of partnership equity, completes schedules to support balances as stated in the Balance Sheet, checks Navision bank accounts for accuracy of input of daily deposits, checks Yardi deposit entries for accuracy against bank statements, prepares bank reconciliations/reconciles bank balance to the cash balance in the Trial Balance, researches discrepancies and prepares correcting journal entries. Cash management including preparing deposits, transferring cash between accounts, initiating wire transfers & check request for debt service payments. On average, will be responsible for four partnerships per month depending on other responsibilities.


  • Problem solving/troubleshooting - Answers questions and assists Property Accountants in reconciling accounting schedules. Support for Community Directors, District Manager, and Regional Manager for accounting concerns.


  • Prepares and reviews annual budgets and audits - Prepares budgets/audits for a limited number of properties, and reviews budget/audit packages from Property Accountants. Communicates directly with auditors and/or Controller regarding audit concerns.


  • Hires, trains and manages Property Accountants Interviews candidates, completes new hire paper work, 90 day and annual reviews, bonus calculation, manage PTO and work assignments, trains and mentors staff.

Pay for this position is commensurate with experience of candidate.

Knowledge and Experience


  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.

  • One year of experience as an Accountant required. Property accounting experience highly desired.

  • Ability to speak, read and write English for safety and productivity reasons.
