About the Role

Essity North America is looking for a Product Developer to the Incontinence Pants team within R&D Personal Care to meet the consumer and customer and business needs, ensuring manufacturability, cost efficiency and product superiority. We as a team translates consumer needs to product functions and further into technical solutions. We offer you a chance to work in a global company, to develop both your technical and leadership skills as part of a global, creative, curious and supporting team.

The ideal candidate should/could live in Philadelphia.

As a Product Developer, you will:


  • Lead the development work of new or existing products to meet consumer and business needs.

  • Secure that the solution have strong manufacturability.

  • Propose, verify and validate product solution meeting set project scope.

  • Support consumer testing and take part in translating learnings into consumer and customer needs.

  • Be a core team member in innovation projects from early idea generation to launch.

  • Support or lead R&D enabling projects to develop solution and improve state of readiness for future innovations.

  • Plan and execute test runs in factory and on pilot machine at Essity or at our machine suppliers.

  • Lead technical substantiation work for claims.

  • Work together with global colleagues in the fields of product, process and material development, Lab, manufacturing, product safety and regulatory.

  • Support projects in US and Canada, but also Mexico, South America, and Europe

Key Competencies


  • Bachelors degree within a technical field, preferably Mechanical, Industrial Design, Chemistry or equivalent within relevant practice

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience within product development, product life cycle management or similar relevant experience

  • Experience from project management is beneficial.

  • Experience from using modelling and simulation tools in product development is valuable.

  • Ability to travel 10-20% of the time as the function requires visits to factories and suppliers both in and outside North America.

Personal Skills and Capabilities


  • We are looking for someone that can that take the lead for the NA Underwear product development, be flexible in supporting local initiative still making sure it fits on the global product structure.

  • We are looking for someone that enjoys working in teams, is open minded and has a problem-solving approach.

  • You should have a passion for product development and understand process/production opportunities and restrictions and interest in consumer, business, and marketing aspects of the development work as well as a strong technical competence.

  • You should have the ability to have a holistic view and relate well to different cultures and build good relations on all levels.

  • In addition, we want someone with good communication skills and strong self-leadership capability.

  • Valuable skills are: analytical, data driven, proactive, collaborative and driven
