Job Description:

The Genie Company, has a product training initiative to provide training, resources and tools to both internal partners and external clients.

The Associate Product Trainer will conduct and support Genie product training needs by working in conjunction with the sales teams, using principles and applications of adult learning, training and Instructional Design. This trainer will report to the Product Training Manager in developing and delivering training based on organizational needs and strategies in both new and existing products, features, benefits and technical aspects for improving outcomes in sales and operational performance of Genie/Overhead Door® operators for all key divisions.Experience:


  • 1-2 years of experience in Training Design, Instructional Design/Development or Project Management. Preferably in the Home Improvement/Dealer based setting.
  • Experience in customer relations and developing rapport
  • Experience in creating and facilitating learning environments
  • Experience in e-learning development
  • High level of competency of Microsoft products
  • Strong technical aptitude
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; demonstrate effective time management skills by completing assignments within scheduled planning.

Travel: This position is based on travel throughout the United States and Canada.

  • National travel is required with this position (up to 80%). When not in the field, this position works from home (~20%).
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Flexibility for an irregular schedule is necessary. Travel takes place Monday - Friday and is dependent on project needs. Weekend travel is not typical but does come up 1 - 2 times per year. Ultimately, this position requires a person with great versatility in using many skills and abilities while being part of a remote team, working independently, presenting to employees and customers.

Education:

  • College degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Strategic Communications preferred, Business, Education or certificate related to organizational performance and strategic communications
Experience:

  • Collaborates and consults with the Director of Training, training team members, Product Development SME's, sales staff and brand management to build product knowledge and competency.
  • Understands the product and selling environment in order to present information to small and large groups of customers and internal employees.
  • Deliver curriculum of instructor led-training.
  • Use blended learning strategies for customers and installers
  • Ensure that product training is complete and accurate before delivery of existing products and assists in developing training for those new products
  • Assist the Training Manager in developing learning materials such as documentation, presentations, videos, procedures, activities, that support all learning goals.
  • Assists in evaluating the short and long-term effectiveness of materials/programs on a regular basis
  • Deliver in-person and virtual product training to distributors, internal staff, and client companies where necessary
  • Participates with Corporate projects and/or initiatives as assigned; responsible for the coordination and completion of projects, including meeting deadlines, and summarizing progress of project. Prepares and reports on the outcomes of delivering training assignments.
  • Being flexible where needed is key to being successful in this role.
  • Physical Demands:

    • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds of training equipment for transportation, set-up/take down.
    • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
    • Must be able to climb a ladder

  • Install company products on occasion using tools such as: impact, drill, wire cutters, tape measure and other hand tools occasionally.

  • Collaborates and consults with the Director of Training, training team members, Product Development SME's, sales staff and brand management to build product knowledge and competency.
  • Understands the product and selling environment in order to present information to small and large groups of customers and internal employees.
