Position Description

Kinder Morgan Storage, Div 2 is currently seeking a Technician-Engineer for the Young and Fort Morgan Storage Facilities. The position offices out of the Young Storage Facility. The position is geared towards an individual with at least 3-5 years experience in oil and gas production well operations. The successful candidate will serve a vital role in ensuring that the plant and storage wells maintain compliance with all state and federal environmental, OSHA and other Regulatory Agency regulations associated with plant and field operations. This position will work closely with the various plant Supervisors, plant personnel, KM EHS departments, and Engineering Departments. The position provides support to the day-to-day operations of the area storage fields.

Responsibilities:
• Promote the Company's EHS philosophy and culture.
• Assist in the performance and maintenance of the area storage operations including but not limited to, well head measurement and controls, analyzer calibrations, field maintenance, and down hole work.
• Assist in scheduling, planning, and conducting down hole storage well work.
• Assist in continued implementation of and adherence to the Company's EHS Management Plan.
• Assist Reservoir Services with maintenance and documentation of storage fields.
• Participate in Safety Committee meetings.
• Assist in Maintaining safety equipment in proper working order and coordinate required inspections, maintenance, calibration/testing, and replacement as required.
• Assist in the development and enhancement of compliance review policies and procedures.
• Completion of assigned Maximo work orders and Ops Info tickets.
• Participate in Emergency Response planning, preparation and drills.
• Participate in corporate Technical Work Groups, as appropriate.
• Will carry a company-provided cell phone and respond during working and non-working hours.
• Willing to work around plant/production vessels and piping systems containing hydrocarbon gases, which are flammable and may be explosive under certain circumstances.
• Operate a company vehicle.
• Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

Education/Experience/Knowledge:

• Minimum 3 years' experience in oil and gas production operations.
• Working knowledge of general industry and construction standards. Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations is a plus.
• Experience in oil and gas production and gas processing operations.
• Experience with SPCC and Stormwater plans.

Competencies, skills, and abilities:
• Excellent written and oral communication skills are necessary, including experience providing training, and interaction with employees and all levels of management, as well as ability to interact with federal, state, and local agencies and officials.
• Advanced proficiency level with Microsoft Office applications and database software, specifically including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Must be able to work individually as well as with a team, take direction from supervisor(s), prioritize work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules.
• Must be a self-starter with a high drive for results.
• Must have good time management skills and be able to handle multiple tasks at same time.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

Certifications/Licenses:

• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and driving record acceptable to company and insurer.

Physical demands:


  • Position requires standing, walking and sitting while working either indoors or outdoors.

  • Must be able to consistently lift a minimum of 20 lbs., at times in awkward positions.

  • May have to lift (from floor to waist) and carry up to 50 lbs.

  • While performing the job you will be required to lift and carry, pull, or push, reach, squat, kneel, and/or climb ladders or stairs.

  • Must be able to frequently climb and work from elevated platforms, ladders, and walkways.

  • May periodically work in low-lit areas.

  • Will periodically work in areas of high noise levels (engines).

  • Will work in extreme temperatures including inside compressor building(s).

  • Must follow and adhere to all applicable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines including wearing full FRC.



Working conditions:

  • Must be able to drive and work in all weather conditions including extreme hot or cold.

  • Depending upon the location and workload, travel may be required.

  • Must live within a reasonable response time from the reporting location (45 minutes from assigned work location).

  • May be required to carry a company-provided communication device to respond both during working and non-working hours.


Preferred Education/Certifications:
• A related Associates or Bachelor's degree is preferred.

Pay range is $28.00 - $56.00 per hour. This position includes a discretionary annual incentive plan. Job level and pay commensurate with experience and skill set.
