About the Role: As a Construction Safety Specialist, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees, contractors, and visitors during engineering and construction projects on our Irvine campus. Reporting to the R&D EHS Manager, you'll be responsible for implementing safety programs, conducting inspections, and providing expert guidance on construction safety practices.
Responsibilities:
Vendor Coordination: Collaborate with external vendors to ensure safe construction activities.
Job Hazard Analysis: Assist in reviewing job hazard analyses for assigned projects.
Site Inspections: Conduct regular site inspections to assess compliance and make recommendations. Prepare detailed reports for management review.
Cross-Functional Communication: Engage with cross-functional teams, including project engineers and general contractors, to address safety concerns.
Safety Decision-Making: Make informed safety decisions within the context of each project.
Compliance: Ensure that practices align with local, county, state, and company EHS requirements.
Contractor Training: Deliver safety training to contract workforce.
Vendor Compliance Tracking: Manage and track third-party construction and maintenance vendor compliance using our approved contractor management system.
Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in Health & Safety within the construction industry.
Construction Knowledge: Thorough understanding of construction materials and practices.
Education: Bachelor's degree in safety, occupational health, engineering, or a related field (preferred).
Certifications:
OSHA 30-Hour certification (required)
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification (preferred)
Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification (a plus)
