Overview
We are seeking a Gastroenterologist to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System in Little Rock, Arkansas. The Gastroenterologist in this position will be responsible for covering a range of Gastroenterology services as would be provided in a state-of-the-art civilian medical treatment facility and the standard of care shall be of a quality, meeting or exceeding currently recognized national standards.

Responsibilities
- Provide excellent on-site care for military Veterans.
- Study, diagnose, and treat illnesses, injuries, and other ailments.
- Provide preventative care, detect developing health problems, and give advice to help patients develop healthy habits.
Patient Care 95%:
- Provide clinical Gastroenterology services including procedures, consultations, and other related Gastroenterology procedures.
- Provide discharge education and follow up instructions that are coordinated with the next care setting for all Gastroenterology clinical or surgical patients.
- Communicating test results to providers and patients.
Administrative 5%:
- Attend staff meetings as required by the VA.
- Complete the appropriate QM/PI documentation pertaining to all procedures, complications, and outcome of examinations.
- Comply with Patient Safety Compliance and Reporting.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent degree from a school in the United States or Canada.
- Minimum of 2 years of specialized experience and training required.
- Must have a current active, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia.
- Board Certified/Board Eligible Gastroenterologist by the American Board of Internal Medicine is required.
- Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or equivalency is required.
- Knowledge of medical ethics, human anatomy, pharmacology, and other specialties.
- Ability to speak, understand, read, and write English fluently.
