The Role:



As a Sr. Talent Discovery & Sourcing Partner at Moderna, you will have an exciting opportunity to become an integral member of our new Talent Discovery & Intelligence team. This dynamic team works relentlessly to fuel a high-impact organization that is radically changing the biotech industry.

With over 45 innovative vaccine and therapeutic programs, including 9 in late-stage development, your role in talent sourcing will be pivotal to our continued success.


As a Sr. Talent Discovery & Sourcing Partner, you will play a pivotal role in crafting cutting-edge strategies and owning the execution of talent sourcing for a designated area of the business. You will pinpoint and nurture lasting connections with potential candidates, ensure that Moderna is well-equipped to bridge current and future capability gaps, and fortify succession and talent pools for key areas within a part of the organization. Driven by a comprehensive understanding of Moderna's Culture and Mindsets, the biopharmaceutical industry, its competitors, and overall market conditions, you will function as an advisor, using market data analyses and industry research to deliver talent intelligence that influences stakeholders to act proactively regarding their current/future talent mix and talent market availability.


Serving as a crucial link among the global Talent Acquisition team, HR Business Partners, and designated business functions, this position is a strategic partner in the Talent ecosystem at Moderna. In this role, you will also prioritize opportunities and projects with an emphasis on technology and process solutions to accelerate business impact through talent sourcing and intelligence.


Ideally, you will have a background in executive search, preferably in the biopharmaceutical industry, with a history of developing differentiated sourcing strategies in extremely competitive markets. You possess a strong ability to influence and guide internal stakeholders in a consultative way, using talent market data, while building long-term relationships with passive talent.



Here's What You'll Do:



  • Devise and implement sophisticated talent attraction and sourcing strategies to proactively scout and foster enduring relationships with high-caliber candidates, filling current and future talent needs, and establishing robust pipelines for vital roles in a critical part of the business.


  • Employ a thorough comprehension of Moderna's culture, the biopharmaceutical industry, and market dynamics to collaborate with HR and business leaders in cultivating advanced candidate pipelines through creative and strategic sourcing methods.


  • Provide insightful consultation to stakeholders, utilizing market data analysis and industry research to guide proactive workforce planning and talent acquisition strategies in your designated area of expertise.


  • Display persistence to continually uncover and engage new talent in extremely competitive and challenging markets. Leverage creative methods for sourcing, beyond LinkedIn Recruiter, and thoughtful outreach and engagement approaches, including tactics to attract candidates from diverse backgrounds.


  • Actively engage in all aspects of a search or research project, starting with initial intake, role scoping and early calibration of potential candidates through talent mapping. Partner with the business to understand the cost/value of various recruiting approaches.


  • Define objectives and form hypotheses based on current market trends, internal data, and industry benchmarks.


  • Keep abreast of latest and innovative technologies; leveraging digital tools and fresh approaches to find and engage talent in novels ways that differentiates Moderna from our competitors.


  • Develop expertise and seek continuous learning in focus area, with ability to understand and communicate in depth about designated specialty, building credibility with candidates and business leaders.


  • Compile and provide updates and reporting on external talent activity to stakeholders. Diligent about data integrity and interprets data/reports in meaningful ways for relevant audiences.


  • Respectfully and confidently challenge stakeholders in the business and HR at all levels (up to VP/SVP level) through data and influential communication skills.


  • Encourage drive for collaboration, with the end goal of enabling Moderna's business objectives and building high performing teams.


  • Conduct in-depth video interviews to assess technical and Moderna fit, generate full candidate reports, and facilitate/lead internal team discussions about candidates and searches.


  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with potential talent in the market through proactive networking and transparent and consultative communication.


  • Manage a varied number and type of searches/projects at any given time. Flexible and agile to pivot as priorities shift.





Here's What You'll Bring to the Table:



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, with at least 8 years of progressive responsibility in biotech/pharma executive search (in-house/corporate plus agency is ideal).


  • A recognized "talent advisor" with a strong business and market acumen, leveraging both quantitative and qualitative data to synthesize insights and influence business decisions.


  • A tenacious talent hunter with exceptional sourcing and talent mapping skills, adept at discovering talent through non-traditional channels and building diverse talent networks.


  • Digitally savvy, with expertise in modern technology systems and tools, including Microsoft Office Suite, Applicant Tracking Systems, CRMs, sourcing technologies, reporting visualizations. Interest in learning and leveraging AI preferred.


  • Demonstrated expertise in your designated business areas, understanding organizational talent needs and proactively building pipelines to anticipate talent gaps.
