Job Summary

The Coordinator for Education Programs is responsible for the coordination and management of the Informatics Education Programs, including the Informatics Minor, Informatics Ph.D., Game Studies Minors, and the Bioinformatics M.S. program.



Duties & Responsibilities




Coordinator for Informatics Education Programs:




Coordinate and manage Undergraduate and Master's level education programs 40%:


  • Coordinate curriculum changes as needed and directed by each of the Informatics and Bioinformatics degree programs' curriculum committee.

  • Promote the programs to students and faculty

  • Advise undergraduate INFO minor students.


Coordinate admissions, records and student services for the Informatics Ph.D. program 50%:

  • Promote the Ph.D. program externally, and recruit students, in pursuit of a highly diverse applicant pool.

  • Manage application review processes.

  • Coordinate the graduate orientation seminar, colloquia and symposia.

  • Advise students and oversee student progress.


Assist with coordination of the Game Studies & Design (GSD) minor programs 10%

  • Provide back-up to the GSD coordinator, in all areas of management and student advising.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Provide leadership and direction to maintain and strengthen the Informatics education programs 10%:

  • Seek and incorporate input from stakeholders (faculty, administrators, and students) to improve the administration and development of the education programs.


Supervise the administration of Undergraduate and Master's level education programs 40%:

  • Coordinate curriculum changes as needed and directed by each program's curriculum committee.

  • Promote the programs to students and faculty.



  • Supervise other staff supporting the Undergraduate and Master's level education programs.


Coordinate admissions, records and student services for the Informatics Ph.D. program 50%:

  • Promote the Ph.D. program externally, and recruit students, in pursuit of a highly diverse applicant pool.

  • Manage application review processes.

  • Coordinate the graduate orientation seminar, colloquia and symposia.

  • Advise students and oversee student progress.

Coordinator for Informatics Program:





Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • Two years in education, training, and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position.

  • (Note: A master's Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.)

  • Demonstrated experience coordinating higher education degree programming.

  • Demonstrated graduate advising experience.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-baccalaureate degree in related field (Informatics, Information Sciences, Computer Science)

  • Experience creating courses in Canvas.

  • Ability to create forms in Form Builder.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Proven ability to engage successfully with prospective and current students, and other stakeholders.

  • Strong organizational and planning skills. High level of attention to detail, ability to work independently or in a team environment, and function professionally under pressure.

  • Proficiency using video-based web conferencing technology, Microsoft Office suite, student application systems (Slate and GradApps) and ability to learn new software/applications as required by the job.


SR, Coordinator for Informatics Program:

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • Five years in education, training, and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position.

  • (Note: A master's Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.)

  • Demonstrated experience with higher education degree programming.

  • Experience with graduate student advising.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-baccalaureate degree in related field (Informatics, Information Sciences, Computer Science).

Appointment Information


This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5002 - Program Coordinator position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 7/1/2024.


The minimum salary for the Coordinator is $60,000, We strive to provide a competitive salary, considering factors such as available market data, internal equity, candidate experience and qualifications, collective bargaining agreements, and budget constraints. The final salary offer will be determined through a thorough assessment of these elements.


The minimum salary for the Sr. Coordinator is $65,000, We strive to provide a competitive salary, considering factors such as available market data, internal equity, candidate experience and qualifications, collective bargaining agreements, and budget constraints. The final salary offer will be determined through a thorough assessment of these elements.


The minimum salary for the Assistant Director is $70,000, We strive to provide a competitive salary, considering factors such as available market data, internal equity, candidate experience and qualifications, collective bargaining agreements, and budget constraints. The final salary offer will be determined through a thorough assessment of these elements.
