Senior Automotive Designer - Plastics at Kforce Inc in Warren, Michigan

Job Description:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Senior Level Automotive Plastics Designer. The candidate will consider plastics designers from other industries.

Duties Include:

• Develop inventive solutions to complex design problems


• Assist other designers with design tasks when required


• Comply with Design Standards and Best Practices


• Apply manufacturability, Design For Assembly, and integration knowledge to parts and subsystem designs


• Actively participate in design reviews


• Document and maintain material, mass, and other part specifications within the Math file


• Work closely with engineers and designers to achieve product design requirements


• Integrate component and subsystem designs into systems


• Keep abreast of current product developments and trends in area of responsibility


• Share lessons learned with Design Technical Specialist, Manager and Designers and recommend updates to Best Practices


• Create math data (models and detailed drawings) of moderately complex to complex components and subsystems


• Keeps Design Manager and Design Technical Specialist informed of project status, timing, and technical issues


• Ensure high quality, on time math release of components and subsystems


• Actively identify new areas for learning and takes advantage of learning opportunities

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering


• At least 10 years of product design experience


• Plastics design experience (will accept any industry experience)


• Proficient knowledge of product design concepts and manufacturing processes (i.e., injection molding, stamping, extrusion, machining, etc.)


• Interpersonal skills to work effectively with others including global partners


• Proficient in Microsoft Office software


• Analytical problem-solving skills


• Excellent communication skills

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
