FPFS Director of Training Position Profile

The School of Psychology & Marriage and Family Therapy at Fuller Theological Seminary’s Pasadena, CA campus invites applications for a full-time, on-site position as Director of Training at Fuller Psychological and Family Services (FPFS). FPFS is the clinic of the Fuller School of Psychology & Marriage and Family Therapy (SoPMFT).

The FPFS Director of Training is responsible for overseeing the recruitment, selection, training, supervision, and evaluation of practicum students, interns, associates, postdoctoral fellows, and licensed clinicians working in the clinic. In addition, the incumbent will work closely with the FPFS Director of Administration to establish the necessary physical and IT infrastructure (and associated work processes) to ensure that FPFS operates efficiently and in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. This position will report to the FPFS Executive Director.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Collaborating with the FPFS Executive Director and the FPFS Director of Administration, the FPFS Director of Training will engage in:

  • Recruiting and Training
    1. Oversee the recruitment, selection, training, supervision, and evaluation of licensed supervisors working in the clinic
    2. Oversee the recruitment, selection, training, supervision, and evaluation of students, postdoctoral fellows, and MFT associates working in the clinic
    3. Develop and implement a comprehensive training curriculum for students, postdoctoral fellows, and MFT associates training in the clinic. This curriculum includes but is not limited to orientation, weekly group didactic training, individual supervision, group video consultation, integration grand rounds, and guest speakers.
    4. Provide weekly group/individual supervision and consultation as needed

  • Administration
    1. Regularly update the FPFS policy/training manual
    2. Manage all aspects of the APPIC-approved postdoctoral fellowship program
    3. Ensure clinic compliance with applicable state, federal, and professional laws and ethics relevant to the training of MFT and clinical psychology students, pre-MFT associates, and postdoctoral fellows relative to the provision of mental health services
    4. Manage relationships with local graduate school programs from which FPFS recruits clinicians
    5. Participate in weekly staff meetings led by the Executive Director
    6. Help organize and lead mandatory monthly business meetings involving all clinic personnel

  • Direct services to clients
    1. Provide a limited number of service hours to clients (TBD)

Qualifications

  • Experience directing/operating a mental health clinic
  • Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, Clinical Psychology, or Counseling Psychology
  • Licensed, in good standing, for at least two years
  • Supervisory experience in a mental health clinic setting
  • Private practice experience
  • Knowledge of California laws, requirements, and ethics surrounding the provision of clinical training and the practice of psychotherapy (for both Clinical Psychology and Marriage and Family Therapy students)
  • Knowledge of trends impacting the clinical training of Clinical Psychology and Marriage and Family Therapy practicum students, interns, associates, and postdoctoral fellows
  • Knowledge of best operational practices for mental health clinics
  • Ability to work effectively in teams and across departments

Pay Scale

Salary range the seminary expects to pay: $75,000 - $100,000 annually, USD
