Job Description:



The Department of Neurological Surgery is seeking an Assistant Research Professor in the Department of Neurological
Surgery at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.
The primary duties of this role include the following. Under the instruction of the PI, conducts scientific research projects from inception to presentation, including planning, organizing, conducting experiments, assessing protocol feasibility, processing and analyzing data, and conference presentations. Supervises a variety of laboratory experiments such as histology, flow cytometry, cell culture and transfection, molecular techniques, gene sequencing, and related technical functions, testing, troubleshooting, and analysis, and may perform microsurgical procedures. Ensures conformity to specifications. Identifies and prepares specimens. Supervises supply management: ordering, procurement, tracking estimates, and receiving items. Operates and maintains applicable laboratory equipment for job functions. Keeps detailed, accurate, and timely data and logbooks. Organizes and documents results. Maintains, calibrates cleans, and tests sterility of laboratory equipment. Assists in preparing and crafting various documentation of research results into manuscripts, proposals, grant applications, and presentations, and demonstrates excellent language skills in scientific communications. Trains undergraduates and research technicians. Manages laboratory policies and coordinates project development in collaboration with other specialists. Assist in preparing manuscripts, research proposals, articles, grant applications, work for publications, and presentations based on research results. Trains undergraduates and/or research technicians. Recommends, drafts, and manages laboratory policies and procedures. Facilitates work and project development in collaboration with other industry and academic specialists. Demonstrates a track record of expertise in Project Management and Development, and a publication record that would warrant appointment into the Research Academic Faculty. Candidates are encouraged to initiate collaborations with other labs in the Brain Tumor Program, and elsewhere within the University community and beyond to enhance the program.

The minimum education to be considered for this position is a PhD or MD.
