JOB SUMMARY

Global Purchasing leader for a world-class global supply chain organization. Opportunity to join an innovative and collaborative team delivering tangible and impactful results to the Nabors businesses. You will lead a team of purchasing professionals to ensure that all purchasing activities align with the organizational goals and objectives. Your primary focus will be on optimizing costs, maintaining quality standards, managing supplier relationships, going out for quotes, resolving purchasing, receiving or invoice issues, and ensuring timely delivery of goods and services to support drilling activities. This role requires strong managerial, relationship building and influencing skills to work effectively across both corporate and operational stakeholders.   

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Must have strong product knowledge of drilling equipment.

  • Lead and mentor a team of purchasing professionals, providing guidance, training, motivation, and support to ensure their success and professional development.

  • Supervise purchasing staff responsibilities including actioning approved purchase requisitions, obtaining quotes, analyzing sales quotes, awarding purchase orders, expediting deliveries, aggressive resolution of delayed deliveries, and management of aging purchase orders.

  • Oversee/manage the Procure-to-Pay process.

  • Work with logistics and strategic sourcing teams on opportunities to achieve its long-term goals.

    Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and work instructions.

  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with procurement activities, including supply chain disruptions and supplier reliability issues.

  • Continuously review and improve procurement processes and procedures to enhance efficiency, streamline operations, and drive cost savings.

  • Prepare regular reports and analysis on purchasing activities, including purchasing productivity, and cost-saving initiatives. Review and approve all purchase orders in compliance with SOA set by management.

  • Communicate with stakeholders for quick issue resolution.

  • Evaluate cost and quality of goods and services.

  • Ensure requisition and receiving teams are aligned with purchasing activities.

  • Ensure item master and BPA’s are utilized to the fullest.

  • Advise operations and commodity teams of lead time requirements to obtain products or services.

  • Make alternative arrangements in the event of shortages or delayed deliveries to minimize impact on the organization.

  • Ensure strategic sourcing directives are followed and maintained by the purchasing teams.

  • Support and manage emergency after hours – as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/ SKILLS


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related fields. 

  • 7+ years’ work experience in procurement, purchasing management or related field with 7 years of supervisory experience. 

  • Strong negotiation skills and experience in contract and supplier management. 

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data and make informed decisions.

  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills; strong listening skills; naturally inclusive in decision-making environments.

  • Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal, and presentation skills. 

  • Solid understanding of procurement best practices, supply chain management principles, and relevant regulatory requirements.                               

  • Must be able to establish and maintain good working relationship with team, management, and departments.               

  • Excellent time management skills.                                                                                                              

  • Self-starter with ability to work with minimal supervision and handle multiple projects simultaneously.                             

  • Make decisions that properly reflect company policy.                                                                                 

  • Ability to work in an ambiguous “matrix environment” and aggressively take the lead on making recommendations that will result in Procurement improvements.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


  • Experience in an energy services business, preferably oil and gas drilling or closely related industry.

  • Certifications in Procurement or Supply Chain Management (CPM, CPSM., etc.).

  • Strong Oracle, Microsoft Office (Microsoft Word and MS Excel).

  • Knowledge of international procurement practices and its financial effects.
