POSITION SUMMARY

As a Lifting & Handling Manager, your role involves overseeing all aspects related to lifting and handling operations within a company or organization. This position typically exists in industries such as construction, manufacturing, logistics, or maritime, where lifting and handling of heavy objects or materials are routine tasks. Here are some key responsibilities you might have:

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·       Strategy Development: Developing strategic plans for lifting and handling operations aligned with the overall goals and objectives of the organization. This may involve analyzing industry trends, identifying opportunities for improvement, and setting long-term goals.

·       Budgeting and Resource Allocation: Managing budgets for lifting and handling activities, allocating resources effectively, and optimizing costs while maintaining quality and safety standards.

·       Equipment Procurement and Maintenance: Overseeing the procurement, maintenance, and repair of lifting equipment such as cranes, hoists, forklifts, and conveyor systems. Ensuring that all equipment is properly maintained, serviced, and compliant with safety regulations.

·       Safety and Compliance: Implementing and enforcing safety protocols and compliance with relevant regulations and standards (e.g., OSHA in the United States). Conducting regular safety inspections, providing training to employees, and promoting a culture of safety awareness.

·       Operational Efficiency: Monitoring and optimizing lifting and handling processes to improve efficiency, reduce downtime, and minimize risks. Identifying bottlenecks or inefficiencies and implementing solutions to enhance productivity.

·       Project Management: Overseeing lifting and handling operations for specific projects, including planning, scheduling, and coordinating resources to ensure timely completion within budget and safety guidelines.

·       Team Leadership and Development: Leading a team of lifting and handling professionals, providing direction, guidance, and mentorship. Developing training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of staff members.

·       Customer Relations: Liaising with clients or internal stakeholders to understand their lifting and handling requirements, providing solutions tailored to their needs, and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.

·       Quality Assurance: Implementing quality control measures to ensure that lifting and handling activities meet quality standards and specifications. Conducting inspections and audits to identify areas for improvement.

·       Risk Management: Identifying potential risks associated with lifting and handling operations and developing strategies to mitigate these risks. This may include implementing safety protocols, conducting risk assessments, and securing insurance coverage.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

·       The performance of this position involves exposure to construction or industrial areas where the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hard hats and hearing protection is required.
