POSITION SUMMARY

The Operations Manager in a metal fabrication company is responsible for overseeing the production process, ensuring efficiency and quality in manufacturing, managing the workforce, and maintaining safety standards. This role requires strong leadership, a deep understanding of fabrication processes, and the ability to manage resources effectively.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.     Production Management

·       Oversee daily operations of the metal fabrication department.

·       Develop and implement production schedules to meet customer demands and company goals.

·       Monitor production processes to ensure efficiency and adherence to quality standards.

·       Optimize workflows and processes to improve productivity.

2.     Quality Control

·       Ensure all products meet company and industry quality standards.

·       Implement and manage quality control procedures and documentation.

·       Address and resolve any quality issues in a timely manner.

3.     Resource Management

·       Manage inventory of raw materials and supplies.

·       Coordinate with procurement to ensure timely delivery of materials.

·       Maintain and monitor equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.

4.     Team Leadership

·       Supervise, train, and mentor production staff.

·       Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback.

·       Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.

5.     Safety and Compliance

·       Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

·       Conduct regular safety audits and training sessions.

·       Address any safety concerns immediately and implement corrective actions.

6.     Continuous Improvement

·       Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost reductions.

·       Lead initiatives to implement lean manufacturing techniques.

·       Stay updated with industry trends and technological advancements.

EDUCATION:  

·       Required: Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, manufacturing, business administration, or a related field.

·       Experience:

o   Minimum of 10 years in a manufacturing environment, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

o   Extensive knowledge of metal fabrication processes, including welding, machining, and assembly.

·       Skills:

o   Strong leadership and team management skills.

o   Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

o   Proficiency in using production management software.

o   Solid understanding of quality control standards and safety regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

o   Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with team members, senior management, and customers.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

·       The performance of this position involves exposure to construction or industrial areas where the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hard hats and hearing protection is required.

·       The position is typically based in a manufacturing facility, involving both office and factory floor environments.

·       Requires adherence to safety standards and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary.
