As an SRE Leader, you will be at the forefront of ensuring the reliability, performance, and availability of our software systems. Your role bridges the gap between development and IT operations, focusing on operational tasks critical to maintaining efficient computer systems. Responsibilities:

Operational Excellence:


  • Lead a team of Site Reliability Engineers (SREs) responsible for monitoring, automating, and enhancing system reliability.


  • Collaborate with development teams to integrate SRE practices into the software development lifecycle.


  • Implement best practices for incident response, blameless post-mortems, observability, and system reliability.


  • Build effective monitoring systems that alert based on symptoms rather than outages.


  • Educate developer teams and stakeholders on SRE practices the importance of Service Level Objectives (SLOs), Service Level Indicators (SLIs), and Error Budgets, and how they drive reliability work.


  • Optimize resource utilization, scalability, reliability and cost-effectiveness.


  • Own the Observability Platform and best practices.



  • Provide strategic direction for IT operations, aligning them with the organization’s goals.




  • Security, Risk and Compliance:


  • Maintain compliance with industry standards.


  • Ensure compliance with data protection regulations.


  • Establish baseline requirements and monitoring capabilities.


  • Collaborate with application teams to ensure dependability.



  • Implement risk mitigation strategies.




  • Strategic Leadership and Mentorship:


  • Build and manage a team of world-class talent, mentoring and guiding the TS SRE practice and community to reach its full potential.



  • Provide strategic direction and guidance to the teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture of innovation and accountability.


    IT Service Management (ITSM)



  • Evolve ITSM to accommodate modern SRE practices and modern CI/CD pipelines


  • Champion and drive the establishment of a mature, enterprise-wide CMDB capability in support of multiple operational and security needs across the company


  • Develop and implement ITSM processes and procedures tailored to support an SRE-based environment, ensuring alignment with SRE principles and practices.


  • Drive the adoption of infrastructure as code, containerization, microservices, and CI/CD practices within ITSM to enhance service resilience and agility.



  • Implement incident management processes, best practices, including blameless RCAs and retrospectives.


    ServiceNow Enterprise Platform



  • Own the ServiceNow Enterprise platform and collaborate with stakeholders to evaluate and add/configure modules to support strategic business needs.


  • Enable and drive adoption of AI and automation functionality in ServiceNow to improve productivity and user experience


Experience:


  • At least 5 years of experience leading SRE teams (or similar roles) across Infrastructure, networking, Security, configuration management, release engineering with a track record of successfully implementing risk and security practices and driving operational change.


  • Knowledge of controlling infrastructure and cloud service platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure).


  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.


  • Leadership: Demonstrated leadership abilities, including team management and strategic thinking.


  • Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze complex issues and devise effective solutions.


  • Communication: Excellent communication skills to collaborate with stakeholders, executives, and technical teams.


  • Certifications: Relevant certifications in SRE or related fields are a plus.


  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, engineering, or comparable experience.

The annual U.S. base pay range for this position is: $239,854.00 - $359,782.00

F5 maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, geographic locations, and market conditions, as well as to reflect F5’s differing products, industries, and lines of business. The pay range referenced is as of the time of the job posting and is subject to change.
