In this role you will have the authority to provide a lead role in the sustaining, implementation, test and transfer to manufacturing of medical devices for the ENT business sector. Join a Culture of Collaboration and Innovation.

The EAR, NOSE, and THROAT operating unit offers a broad portfolio that addresses conditions of the ear, nose and throat, as well as electrosurgical products for soft tissue dissection and hemostatic sealing of soft tissue and bone. The devices we are responsible for designing allow us to treat disease states such as Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS), head and neck cancers, and skull base tumors.

This role will require being onsite in Jacksonville, Florida as needed.

A Day in the Life


  • You will lead and provide guidance in the development of prototypes, verification/validation units and product specifications, including material specifications, assembly drawings and manufacturing documentation.
  • Create test protocols using appropriate statistical rationale for early design studies, benchtop testing, and verification/validation testing.
  • Participate in risk analysis and risk management activities in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • You will provide sustaining engineering direction and support for existing products.
  • You will have a continual awareness of new and advancing technologies and be able to provide conceptual and practical applications for products used during ENT/NT procedures/surgeries.
  • You will create Intellectual Property (IP) through idea and product submissions and patent applications.
  • You will mentor technicians and less experienced engineers.
  • You will travel to observe surgeries, attend sponsored meetings and meet with suppliers.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements


  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Material or Biomedical required
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience

Nice to Have


  • Complete understanding and wide application of technical principals, theories and concepts in the field. General knowledge of other related principals.
  • Ability to apply engineering analysis techniques and tools (Creo, Minitab).
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience with sustaining products throughout their lifecycle.
  • Experience with Medical Devices or other regulated industries.
  • Experience with supplier transfers.

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico. Base pay is based on numerous factors and may vary by job-related knowledge, skills, experience, etc. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
