Clinical Trainer and Education Senior Analyst - AZ Hybrid - Evernorth Care Group at Cigna in Bloomfield, Connecticut

Position Summary:

Supports the Quality Department through high quality staff and provider education initiatives including clinical and technical aspects of their roles. The ideal candidate is a nurse experienced in adult education, demonstrates self-driven initiative, and strong problem-solving skills. This nurse trainer will utilize multiple modalities of education delivery to include developing and executing online courses, in-person training, virtual classes, and individual coaching.

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Oversee all aspects of training for new and existing Evernorth Care Group staff and clinicians. Incorporating policy, process and procedure changes as identified.

  • Administers end-user proficiency assessments, document scores, and communicates to Training Manager and User and Security team.

  • Develops and conducts training courses utilizing various modalities as appropriate, specific to back office, clinician, and front office processes,

  • Assists with creating and maintaining new curriculum/course and associated deliverables including, but not limited to, recording new videos, creating interactive online courses, and updating existing courses as well as maintaining training documents within SharePoint.

  • Updates trainer's manuals, student packets, exercise booklets, handouts, login cards, presentations, Quick Start Guides, Tip Sheets, and other educational materials for responsible training courses.

  • Participate in the roll-out of all software updates for the Evernorth Care Group.

  • Support and educate around new IT requests on improvements needed to the various systems as well as perform the pre-production user testing.

  • Follows-through on needed answers, decisions, and verification of workflows.

  • Assists with building and testing of training environments, and trouble-shooting issues.

  • Works closely with Operations, Nurse, and Clinician Champions to determine, plan, and execute for training and communication needs. Creates and distributes communication to end users as needed.

  • Ensure clinicians and staff adopt new applications and/or application updates; this would include notifying staff and clinicians of changes, as needed, live training, and tracking compliance with using the applications as expected.


  • Coordinate with onboarding process notifying the team when a new hire is complete with learning modules.

  • Assists centers with one-on-one training or follow-up onsite training as requested.

  • Recommend process improvements that drive efficiencies.

  • Works with leadership to coordinate between policy changes and training needs.

  • Partner/collaborate with Cigna training resources.

  • Serve as subject matter expert for various clinical areas of Evernorth Care Group.

  • Collects feedback from trainees in class and communicate that information to the Training Manager.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Strong presentation skills and an ability to communicate in a clear manner, while building rapport and trust with the audience.

  • Comfort facilitating training in a virtual or in-person environment.

  • Ability to effectively communicate and explain sometimes difficult concepts with all organizational levels.

  • Pro-active and self-motivated individual with a positive attitude and willingness to learn and take on the work needed to be completed.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail and understanding of the need for clear explanations and documentation.

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize effectively.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment and balance competing priorities with urgent timelines.

  • Ability to work independently and to interact effectively as a team participant.

  • Occasional travel between health care facilities and administrative offices within the Phoenix metro area.

Experience/Knowledge :


  • Minimum 5 years LPN or RN License required.

  • Experience with electronic medical records is required (Epic Certification preferred)

  • 3-5 years' experience with formal adult education training preferred.

  • Experience with education design software (Articulate preferred)

  • Experience in developing training materials

  • Knowledgeable of back office, clinician, and front office workflow and processes. Knowledge of ICD-10 is preferred.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint) and Windows operating system environment.

  • Bachelor's degree or related clinical and training experience preferred.

  • Technologically savvy and able to manage the Learning Management System (LMS) content, course offerings and course catalog for their organization.

Position will require onsite clinic support; however, may work at home as appropriate.

If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 54,800 - 91,300 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
