Location: Garden City, NY
As our Inside Sales Representative, you will:
Work to achieve account sales targets, including title-level sales goals, and contribute to establishing strategies for achieving and exceeding channel targets.
Assist in the creation of sales conference presentations and work with the Director, Operations on the agenda and execution of a bi-annual sales conference.
Establish regular feedback reporting of activities for dissemination to the Operations Director, and when appropriate, to the divisions within the Publishing Group, including pertinent information on sales successes, challenges, sales metrics.
Develop strategies for business expansion in the channel, including terms management and innovation, non-traditional retail opportunities, and product development.
Stay abreast of competition, industry trends, and market developments to inform strategic plans.
Participate in editorial, production and marketing meetings to help determine publishing direction, schedules, product specifications, budgets, etc.
Attend industry events, trade shows, vendor meetings, as directed.
Qualifications:
3-5 years in a book publishing sales role
Strong passion for books and bookselling, with an understanding of content and distribution models in the adult and children's markets
Understanding of key retailers' emerging trends and ability to capitalize on them
Facility with analytics and numbers-driven strategic planning and process
Highly motivated & entrepreneurial with a creative, hands-on approach to problem solving
Demonstrated sales results and network of contacts within the trade book retail & gift channels
Experience in negotiation and diverse stakeholder management
Knowledge of marketing, publicity, production, order processing, and fulfillment and an ability to work across divisions to achieve goals
Familiarity with sourcing retail display solutions, including vendor contacts, pricing, and materials, a plus
Occasional overnight travel may be required. Airplane, train and car travel may be required.
