JOB DESCRIPTION:

POSITION SUMMARY:

Provide world class quality engineering technical support to the assembly area meeting or exceeding customer expectations. The Supervisor, Final Operations Quality Engineering will champion the assembly team of quality engineers and line inspectors to ensure full compliance to the standards and procedures, in order to meet business requirements, as well as identify and implement process improvements to increase the efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of company products and services as well as to decrease the costs of wastes and non-conforming products.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Ensures Quality Engineers and Line inspectors complies to the company’s Quality Management System and accepted manufacturing practices.
  • Define objectives for the quality engineers and the line inspectors and evaluate their performance in a timely manner, orienting and adjusting any deviation observed.
  • Support Quality engineers to analyze production data and create action plans to reduce rework and scrap of parts assembled in the process
  • Lead and support Quality engineers and SPS (Simple Problem Solving) teams to use 8D tools in root cause analysis of specific projects and report out to high level staff at Manufacturing and Customer teams.
  • Leads efforts to improve production line cadence, meeting daily demand of parts to be delivered to customers
  • Performs duties to capture assembly performance data, identify trends and initiate improvements projects with Quality Engineers.
  • Respect escalation rules of the company.
  • Creates, maintains, and enforces QMS system as related to assembly processes.
  • Continuously researches and implements “Best Practice” manufacturing/processing methods for assembly.
  • Establishes and maintains assembly metrics such as line PPM, scrap, rework etc.
  • Supports improvement projects with the central Quality Team.
  • Supports Quality Engineers with PPAP paperwork to obtain acceptance of RH-Sheppard Customers PPAP.
  • Ensures compliance with the plant policies and procedures including requirements for IATF-16949 and ISO14001.
  • Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned by the Quality Manager

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

This position has supervisory responsibilities of the assembly line quality engineers and quality inspectors.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Desired Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technical/Industrial management.
  • 5 years+ of Quality and Manufacturing experience in industrial areas.
  • Desired professional background in automobile industry
  • Demonstrated experience in motivating and leading people, driving a positive work environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement Quality standards.
  • Strong Written and Oral communications skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities at a time.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques with emphasis on Standardized Work, Continuous Improvement, 5S, and JIT principles.
  • Experienced with Quality control tools and processes, including verification and validation of production tools and methodologies.
  • Analytical capacity of collecting data and study process trends, formulate and orientate quality engineers to implement corrective actions to improve products, processes and systems.
  • Understands Quality Core tools like PFMEA (Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) and Control Plan.
  • Machining, Casting and Assembly Processes experience is preferred.
