Job Description:

Advanced Systems Design is seeking a MS-SQL Data Base Administrator Intermediate for our client located in Montgomery, AL.

This position is onsite in Montgomery, AL and requires in-person availability starting day 1. 

Job Overview:

  • SQL Server Database Administrator responsible for all aspects of database administration and data solutions.
  • This role maintains standard and enterprise Microsoft SQL Server 2012 through 2019 data environments and detailed technical components on Hewlett-Packard (HP) physical and virtual servers running Microsoft Windows Server 2012 through 2019 operating systems.
  • Managing data environments observed by competency in complex legacy SQL code modernization and concurrent new development.
  • Ability to intelligently organize and document data processes is a must.
  • Responsible for standards and design of physical data storage, maintenance, access and security administration.
  • Performs backup and recovery on database management systems, configures database parameters, and prototype designs against logical data models, defines data repository requirements, data dictionaries and warehousing requirements.
  • This position optimizes database access and allocates/re-allocates database resources for optimum configuration, database performance and cost.
  • Must also attend and participate in all assigned project onsite meetings.

Required Qualifications:

  • Candidate should have 5 to 10 years of experience working with various database management systems in the areas of database design, testing, implementation, maintenance and administration in a multiple platform environment
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the role of a Microsoft SQL Server database administrator. 
  • Candidate must have experience performing standalone installation, adding features to an existing installation and the upgrading of an existing instance of SQL Server to different edition.
  • Working knowledge of the SQL Server Installation Center for maintenance.
  • Ability to comprehend and author complex and extensive SQL script is a must, with the expectations of maintaining and rewriting legacy processes to accommodate versioning and infrastructure changes.
  • SQL programming skills should be denoted via efficient and effective syntax, acceptable peer code reviews, demonstrable product results, and documentation principles.
  • Candidate should be extremely proficient with Data Manipulation Language (DML), Data Query Language (DQL), Data Definition Language (DDL), Data Control Language (DCL) and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) Packages as well as data management concepts such as normalization, aggregation, concurrency, and data modeling, to include data interchange formats such as JavaScript Object Notation (JSON).
  • Security driven concepts are top priority in all development and applied against standards set by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Microsoft Trust Center (Azure Compliance) and any internal Departmental policies.
  • Strong expertise in Data Modeling - Logical Modeling, Physical Modeling, Relational Modeling, ER Diagrams, Entities, Attributes, Cardinality, Functions, Views, and Triggers.
  • Azure Cloud Services, BLOB Storage, SQL Data Tools, SQL Reporting Services and Amazon Web Services (AWS) are additional resources that the candidate should have work related experience with.
  • Candidate must possess superior communication and documentation skills, strong decision making and organizational attributes along with exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Candidate will work closely with Project Management, Application Designers, Peer Data Administrators and Project Owners in workflow and business rule discovery, application design assistance, data modeling, and any applicable project related implementation of process controls.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Redgate SQL Monitor for MS SQL Server and Oracle, Advanced Query Tool (AQT), and Quest Toad for DB2.
  • Maintainance of DB2 11.5 LUW (Windows), DB2 12.0 z/OS and/or ORACLE systems

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in: Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field with supporting work experience
