The Onsite Design Engineer (ODE) is responsible for driving the ongoing design lifecycle for conference room and AV/UC standards within an organization. The ODE will work with the primary customer owner to outline the process and roadmap for design standards. The ODE will also conduct research and technical evaluations of different technology equipment and service OEMs, as well as gather preliminary pricing quotes . The ODE will also create and plan processes for conducting internal pilot and proof of concept programs by coordinating with both external OEM's and internal customer IT/facilities teams. The ODE will also provide final analysis reports with projected costs and business outcomes based on research and evaluation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Ability to translate customer requirements into functional system designs.
Review pre-construction design and documentation.
Provide assistance with technical design and level of effort needed by estimating hours and highlighting logistical challenges.
Generate functional system descriptions and block diagram
Identify all cabling and miscellaneous material needs.
Design wall plates and overlays.
Assume ownership of project installation when required.
Develop engineering and architectural (RCP/Floor Plan) drawings, calculation, acoustical modeling or other data as required
Provide on-going engineering support as needed
Meet with vendors/prospective vendors to help evaluate product as requested.
In addition to the above listed responsibilities, the ODE will also be required to be onsite at Capital One in Richmond VA, location with visits to Northern Virginia sites.

Ability to troubleshoot control systems,including loading code for testing.
Has strong ability to organize pilot's and proof of concepts and lead them through deployment, operations, and post pilot evaluation reports.
Ability to diagnose complex system problems
Advanced computer skills as required for the design, configuration, and operation of AV equipment
Ability to work and think independently and ensuring to meet deadlines
Valid Driver's License and a Motor Vehicle Record that meets AVI-SPL driving standards
Education and/or Experience
Demonstrated experience in the design area of the Audio Visual technology industry
Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent
A four year degree or military experience may be considered in place of job experience
Minimum 3-5 years A/V Design Engineer experience and possess strong AV VTC design knowledge
Formal education in Audio Visual, Construction, Technology or related field is preferred.
CTS-D certification preferred
Ability to obtain formal approved clearances (Government or system specific) may be required.
