SOLV Energy is an engineering, procurement, construction (EPC) and solar services provider for utility solar, high voltage substation and energy storage markets across North America.

Job Description Summary:
The Director of Operational Excellence will be responsible for driving continuous improvement across all aspects of our solar installation operations, ensuring we deliver exceptional value to our customers while maintaining profitability and safety.

Position Responsibilities and Duties:

Develop and implement a comprehensive operational excellence strategy:


  • Conduct data-driven analysis to identify opportunities for improvement in key areas like Safety, Quality, Efficiency, Cost, and Morale.

  • Define clear goals and metrics for operational excellence, aligned with overall company objectives.

  • Implement lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, or other relevant frameworks to drive process improvement.

  • Develop and oversee the implementation of standardized work procedures and best practices.


Lead and coach operational excellence initiatives:

  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement throughout the organization.

  • Work with the business units and the business support services to document processes and procedures in the current state.

  • Work with Talent Development to develop training on standard processes and procedures.

  • Build and lead cross-functional teams to identify and implement improvement projects.

  • Implement training and development programs for employees on lean and other operational excellence tools and techniques.

  • Facilitate improvement events including 3P (Production Preparation Process) to radically change the way work is performed

  • Track and measure the effectiveness of operational excellence initiatives and report progress to key stakeholders.

  • Conduct regular executive communication updates on the status of the transformation, escalations, and support required.


Support key operational functions:

  • Work with field operations leadership and support staff to monitor the performance of installation crews and ensure adherence to safety protocols, quality standards and budgets.

  • Optimize inventory management and logistics to minimize costs and delays.

  • Collaborate with other departments like Safety, Quality, Scheduling and Finance to ensure alignment with operational excellence goals.


Stay current on industry trends and best practices:

  • Research and evaluate new technologies and solutions that can improve operational efficiency.

  • Network with other industry professionals and participate in relevant conferences and training.

  • Share knowledge and insights with the team to ensure continuous learning and improvement.


Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in renewable energy construction

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in engineering or operational management

  • Lean Six Sigma Certifications or equivalent training in Kaizen principals

  • Project Management Certifications or Certified Manager of Quality / Organizational Excellence preferred

Compensation Range:

$163,248.80 - $217,694.40
