Major Duties :1. Marshals and administers assets in complex \nestates and taxable trusts.\n\n2. Decides all substantive questions arising within \nthe estate including tax elections, use of tax reserves, \ndisposition, valuation and collection of assets, raising \nof cash, resolution of liabilities, audits, and litigation.\n\n3. Manages accounts which feature sophisticated \nestate plans, unusual assets, complicated will or \ntrust provisions, intricate tax matters, significant \ninvestment decisions, and sensitive family \nsituations.\n\n4. Administers unusual assets, such as closely-held \nstock, investment concentrations, large or multiple \nreal estate holdings, unusual qualified plans, \ndeferred compensation agreements, and farms.\n\n 5. Enables preparation of tax returns (estate, gift,\ngeneration-skipping, fiduciary, and personal income \ntax) through locating and marshaling assets, \narranging for valuation, quantifying expenses, \nand securing and reviewing financial records.\n\n6. Works with internal tax support, co-fiduciaries, \nand outside counsel to consider all tax elections \nand determine appropriate tax reporting.\n\n7. Advises investment division of all pertinent \ncircumstances related to cash requirements of estate \nand investment objectives of beneficiaries. Helps \ndevelop and communicate investment programs,\nensuring that all fiduciary requirements are observed.\n\n8. Coordinates the balancing of account requirements \nand customer needs during the estate settlement \nperiod. Ensures that appropriate communication \nof investment decisions occurs between the bank \nand interested outside parties.\n\n9. Establishes and maintains strong relationships \nwith beneficiaries responding to their needs and \nobjectives, and explaining any issues that arise \nin the estate. Educates clients on bank products \nand services, emerging issues, and regulatory/tax \nchanges.\n\n10. Cultivates relationships for expanded business \nopportunities with the bank (personal trust, Northern \nTrust Securities, investment management, private \nbanking, etc.).\n \n11. Reviews and implements all fundings and \ndistributions, reviewing all pertinent accounting \ndocumentation for assigned accounts. Oversees \npreparation and filing of all necessary court \ndocuments.\n\n12. Oversees special tasks, including sale of real \nestate or family business interest, disposition of \nqualified plan assets, coordinating response to \nestate tax audits, and facilitating beneficiaries'' \ncredit requests.\n\n13. Coordinates response to litigation or initiates \nlitigation if appropriate. Coordinates discussion \nand review of technical tax and legal issues, \nusing outside counsel, in-house legal or tax \ncounsel, and senior administrators.\n\n14. Serves as a resource for the group, providing \ntraining and consultation on estate matters.\n\nKnowledge :Advanced knowledge of estate planning and tax laws, \ntrust, fiduciary income, investments, real estate, \naccounting, trust operations, and current issues within \nthe field such as\n\nExperience :Minimum 8 years experience in estate administration \nor personal trust, with broad exposure to legal, tax, \ninvestment, and operational elements required.
