Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Production Engineer to join our Ashland LLC business at our Columbus, OH plant. This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the manufacturing function. This position will report to the Production Manager.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:


  • Provide technical support for manufacturing personnel for process troubleshooting, safety, and quality at a 24/7 GMP batch facility producing APIs and intermediates, personal care products, and specialty chemicals

  • Work collaboratively with site and corporate R&D staff to scale new chemistries from lab scale to plant scale

  • Support site engineering in the design and implementation of capital projects and support new equipment coming on-line

  • Collect and analyze data from processes to help make decisions regarding batch quality and yield.

  • Work cross-functionally with site quality, maintenance, and materials departments to meet strategic production goals in a safe and timely manner

  • Support Process Safety Management efforts by participating in Process Hazard Analyses, submitting Management of Change requests, updating and improving operating procedures, and recommending and implementing process changes when appropriate

  • Support Production Manager and staff with ongoing continuous improvement efforts

  • Estimated travel of 10% to support site projects and gain on-the-job training as necessary

In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:


  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering

  • 1-5 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing setting

  • A strong technical background in organic chemistry and unit operations

The following skill sets are preferred by the business unit:


  • Previous experience working in a GMP and/or PSM facility

  • Six Sigma yellow or green belt certification with experience in experimental design and analysis
