Job Description:

This role will be supporting Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) related projects, activities and other tasks as assigned.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities


  • Prepare training materials on ESG for internal Procurement / Supply Chain team as well as external suppliers. Incorporate both basic ESG concepts and Coherent specific initiatives, goals, and requirements.
  • Research best practices on ESG topics in public domain and prepare and present training on these topics to ESG team and other internal audiences, including but not limited to sustainable procurement practices.
  • Assist in reviewing data on Coherent supply chain emissions, including the application of industry standard emissions factors, supplier specific emissions factors, and the proper categorization of the emissions into various Scope 3 categories.
  • Participate in internal ESG team meetings and customer ESG calls and assist with meeting notes and subsequent tracking of action items
  • Assist in drafting annual ESG report
  • Data analysis of internal database of past ESG inquires to assess trends and patterns to help prioritize future ESG activities
  • Complete other projects and duties related to sustainable procurement as assigned


Education & Experience

  • Currently enrolled in college in one of the following areas of study: Business Administration, Political Science, Engineering or Science discipline
  • Two years of work experience (including relevant internships)


Skills

  • Strong written and spoken English required
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong understanding of sustainability principles, practices, and frameworks, such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the Responsible Business Alliance Code of Conduct.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft software (MS Word, Powerpoint, Excel).
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development in the fields of business development and sustainability.
  • Passion for sustainability and a genuine desire to make a positive impact on the environment and society.
  • Reliable, high speed internet connection is required.


Working Conditions

  • Working hours are normal business hours Monday - Friday, 15 to 19 hours per week. Exact schedule to be aligned with supervisor.
  • Occasional early mornings or late nights as necessary to interact with colleagues, customers, or suppliers across global time zones.
  • Travel will be infrequent to none.


Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
