Site Safety & Health Manager




Location: Dubuque, IA


The Site Safety & Health Manager is responsible for leading, managing, and implementing health, environmental, and safety strategies across multi-plant operations. By leveraging EH&S data, this role aims to enhance our safety program's effectiveness. Working closely with Operations Leaders, the Site Safety & Health Manager develops and deploys annual safety and health plans, emphasizing employee engagement, auditing, and continuous improvement. The role ensures compliance with regulatory standards, alignment with enterprise guidelines, and successful outcomes in site safety and environmental performance.



Position Responsibilities:



  • Supervision and Compliance:



    • Supervise staff in areas such as Environmental, Health Services, or Workers' Compensation (specific area may vary by site).

    • Collaborate with Enterprise-level functional leadership and support staff to ensure site-specific compliance.

    • Set schedules, assign work, and monitor performance.

    • Foster a behavior-based safety culture within the team.




  • Training Programs:



    • Oversee and conduct site-specific safety and environmental training programs.

    • Topics include incident investigation, lockout/tagout, powered industrial trucks, ergonomics, safety inspections, Job Safety Analysis, audiometric testing, hazardous waste, stormwater, air compliance, and spill response.

    • New associate orientations focus on hazard reduction and compliance.




  • Team Development:



    • Build and coach a high-performing team of Safety Specialists, Technicians, and Occupational Health Specialists.

    • Prioritize hazard elimination, incident reduction, and behavior management.




  • Occupational Health Care:



    • Partner with organizations to ensure all employees have access to preventive/practice occupational health care.

    • Lead Occupational Health Specialists and First Responders to provide timely services for health conditions and injuries.




  • Strategic Collaboration:



    • Collaborate with Plant Managers, Manufacturing Operations Managers, and other Functional Managers.

    • Drive process improvements to achieve operational objectives and milestones.

    • Ensure deployment of corporate policies.




  • Corporate Leadership and Compliance:



    • Partner with corporate functional leadership (e.g., Corporate Safety) and counterparts in other plants.

    • Share best practices and deliver value.

    • Develop and enforce compliance with corporate policies and procedures.




  • Safety Leadership:



    • Provide safety leadership within the Plant Leadership Team.

    • Audit policies and procedures, identify corrective actions, and ensure timely completion.

    • Mobilize appropriate resources when needed.




  • Performance Metrics:



    • Manage actions aimed at injury prevention, incident rates, lost work days, and workers' compensation costs.

    • Drive progress toward overall safety and health goals.
