Job Description
Performing molecular based assays such as real-time PCR, droplet digital PCR, standard PCR
Preparing DNA/RNA extractions, both kit-based low-throughput and instrument-based high- throughput procedures, on multiple specimen types (serum, nasal swabs, feces, etc.)
Development and optimization of enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA) and next-generation ELISA development (e.g. MSD platform)
Performing cell-based assays such as virus isolations, virus titrations, immunofluorescence assays, and plaque assays
Conducting general cell culture maintenance, including routine passaging of multiple cell lines, preparation of cell plates, and cryopreservation.
Performing experiments using flow cytometry and cell sorting.
Laboratory housekeeping duties and other general laboratory related tasks, as appropriate, including sample inventory maintenance.
Data entry, verification and handling, record keeping, in accordance with scientific protocols and applicable Standard Operating Procedures
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in scientific discipline with emphasis in virology/bacteriology/cell culture/molecular biology/medical technology, or related disciplines
Minimum 2 years laboratory experience and proven skills in aseptic techniques
Experience with:
rtPCR
Standard PCR
Preparing DNA/RNA extractions
Development and optimization of ELISA assays
Cell-based assays such as virus isolations and virus titrations
Cell culture maintenance
Routine passaging of multiple cell lines
Preparation of cell plates
Cryopreservation
Bench experience in basic molecular biology, virology or immunology
Experience with plaque assays and ddPCR
Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
Self-starter, able to prioritize work and work efficiently with minimal supervision
Ability to develop and maintain effective, trusting work relationships
Computer skills required: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
