Position: Repair Prep





Department: Warranty Repair





Work Location: Cortez, CO, 100% Onsite



What you will be doing:



As directed by the Warranty & Repair Manager, the Repair Prep processes receipt and intake of warranty items, learns the repair process, how to prepare product for repair, and how to provide excellent service and quality levels for customers. The Repair Prep works with the repair team to assist in the warranty and repair process. Over time, the Repair Prep will progress towards processing and repairing warranty items. In addition, the Prep position will be cross trained to help with parts and shipping at times of high need.


  • Learn how to disassemble, clean, repair (non-sewing), and reassemble warranty items.

  • Learn how to responsibly use repair equipment.

  • Under the supervision of the Warranty & Repair Manager - execute the disassembly, cleaning, repair, and reassembly of items in a neat, timely, and professional manner.

  • Handle in the inflow and outflow of warranty in an organized and timely manner.

  • Confirm accuracy of ERP information and product returned.

  • Help maintain a 3-day, or better, repair turnaround time.

  • Communicate potential delays and scheduling problems to Warranty & Repair Manager or Sr. Manager of Warranty, Repair, Customer Service.

  • Determine and communicate any labor, material, or machine needs to Warranty & Repair Manager.

  • Provide replacement parts for customers as requested through Osprey website.

  • Return ship repaired product to the customer.

  • Seek repair advice from fellow RS Associates and leadership when vital.

  • Assist repair team with intake and processing of customer packs, as requested.

  • Develop and provide feedback to Warranty Repair Management on process and efficiency improvement.

  • Seasonally provide feedback to Warranty & Repair Manager for the preparation of spare parts order forms.

  • Update ERP system with appropriate repair information and notations.

  • Provide information to PLM team about commonly repaired packs as well as feedback around potential repair areas for products in development.






Skills needed to be successful in this role:



  • Desire to learn new information pertaining to sewing, backpack repair, and product development, preferred

  • Ability to safely operate hand and power tools, conduct backpack disassembly and assembly, understand mechanical and ergonomic function of backpacks






Minimum Qualifications:



  • High School Diploma, or General Education Degree

  • Basic computer proficiency including experience with (or ability to learn) MS Word, Excel and Business Central (NAV) as it relates to Warranty & Repair process

  • Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis






Preferred Qualifications:



  • College-level coursework or degree

  • Prior experience in product repair, industrial machine operation, or trades requiring the use of tools





In Colorado, the standard base pay range for this role is $15.65 - $23.48 hourly. This base pay range is specific to Colorado, and may not be applicable to other locations. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to location, experience, skill level, and performance. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees.
