Student Intern Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Paid internship Gain valuable experience while going to school! Ada County Highway District (ACHD) is now accepting applications for a Student Intern position in the GIS Department. This internship will provide hands-on experience in the areas of IT within the District. This is a paid internship with an hourly salary of $16.00 per hour. This Intern position is available to full-time students only. The Intern can work a flexible schedule with a maximum of 24 hours per week during the school year, and 40 hours per week during the school breaks. Primary Responsibilities: The Intern will perform GIS tasks related to the development, maintenance, and implementation of ACHDs Geographic Information System. Under supervision of the GIS Coordinator, will assist with work on GIS projects as assigned. Duties may include creating new GIS datasets based upon existing standards, editing existing Shapefiles, Geodatabases, and relational databases, and completing data entry into a GIS related database. Qualifications: The Requires a working knowledge of methods, standards, and techniques of Cartography and GIS. Functional knowledge of ArcGIS Pro, MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) is essential in performing daily operations. Functional understanding of plan drawings is a plus. Requires the ability to work on projects with limited supervision, prepare technical reports and documents in a clear and concise manner, and be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Students majoring in GIS, Geography, Cartography, or a related major are preferred. Please list applicable classes taken on the application or cover letter.
