Duties & Responsibilities

Assists Editor/Indexer in the production of Anthropological Literature, a bibliographic database and index for international anthropological research. Principal duties include: data entry (indexing), editing authority control, subject analysis and assignment of subject headings, problem-solving, maintenance and correction of records in the database, training and supervising student assistants, record keeping, maintaining production schedules and the AL website.

Basic Qualifications
2 years' experience with the Library of Congress Subject Headings, MARC and cataloguing or indexing experience and B.A. in anthropology, archaeology or related field required.

Additional Qualifications
Working knowledge of computer systems and word processing required. Knowledge of technical innovations as related to library services and online databases/publishing. Ability to meet deadlines, carry out multiple and concurrent tasks, make decisions and prioritize duties required. Excellent analytical skills and organizational ability required. Reading fluency in Spanish, German or French. Other duties as required.
